I have the helmet style distributor I purchased new inner terminals and rotor the recommended clearance per sheet sent in the box should be 3 to 5 thousands. When installed I have 8 to 10 thousand clearance between inner terminals and rotor would this be a problem. Thanks

I was thinking of the same thing with a dial indicator. Not sure what you mean when you say gasket goop to hold them in place. Would you be referring to applying sealer to the shims. I was planning on driving the A out your way seems like the summer went fast.

Replacing timing and crank gear along with pulley. Glad I decided to do this as when I went to remove the crank bearing I realized the U-bolts that was holding the axle in place were to short and the nuts were on with only a few treads with no lock washers not on far enough for a cotter key.

A little more information I think the marks on the crank shaft is not from some one turning the engine over. With a closer inspection it looks maybe marks from a sharp chisel trying to raise some metal to tighten up a loose pulley.
