    New guy seeking advice

Juan- Take a look at a Cabriolet. The windows of a Coupe and the "Drop-Top" of a Roadster. Best of both worlds. They'll cost a few more $'s.

Water output casting sealing gasket or no gasket?

I've used the original, thick gasket and traced it on a plain old brown paper grocery sack. Cut those out and use them as gaskets. A bit of #2 Permatex never a leak and never a problem with breaking off the ears.

Spindals installed and no problem. Yup the tiny extension was taken up with the felt washer. All good now. Thanks for all of the responses.

    King Pin Bushing length?

Replacing the King Pins and Bushings and I noted that the bushing fits flush in the upper casting (top and bottom). In the lower casting the bushing fits flush with the top surface but extends about 1/16" out of the bottom of the lower casting. Sound right to anyone? Thanks.

What strange comments or questions have you heard about your Model A

Seems like every time I go out with one of the cars someone will ask, "where's the car show"? I tell them, "just because it's old doesn't mean it has to go to a show. We just drive them...".

    Mitchell gear spiters,

MAG, I purchased a Mitchell specifically for my Victoria. Yes, the regular ones do interfere with the drop down floor but they do make an O/D for the Victoria by changing the lengths of the torque tubes. The O/D I purchased didn't go into my Victoria but I put it in a "31 Roadster...works...

    Victoria 1931

1931 Victoria. Older restoration, a driver, not a concourse car. Rare "Twin-X" 2 speed overdrive, Model "B" Diamond engine, runs good. No rust, all steel. Lots of non-reproduction parts. Not sure how to add photos...photos available upon request.

    mini-starter

I am installing a Snyder's gear reduction starter in my rebuild. I had 3 "modern" solenoids explode on my starter that was converted to 12V. Boy what a pain in the rear to get those things out. tired of doing the same thing over and over. Sure they aren't stock looking but others in the...

Twin-X two speed rear end? Have a columbian two speed. Identify model A engine.

I too have a Twin-X in my Victoria. Pretty much like the standard rear-end except for the control rod that's used to shift from Hi to Low range. I am very cautious about shifting while I'm moving. If I try to shift it at any speed at all it grinds so I wait till I'm either stopped or at a...

    Floor mat or carpet???

Thank you both for your help. Mat is the way I'll go. Yes the carpet has been wet and so have the occupants. Maybe that's why the carpet has a big hole below the clutch pedal that catches my heel. I knew the answer would be here.

    Synder's 12v Starter Review

I had a 6V starter converted to 12V and it seems to work pretty well. My problem is I have "stuck/welded" two or three starter switches. Apparently the new replacement switches are not as robust as the originals.

    Floor mat or carpet???

I need to dump the old carpet in my '29 Roadster. Did they come originally with rubber mats or did they come with carpet? I saw a rubber mat and there were some kind of fasteners. Not sure how they work. The old carpet has some of the old snaps left but they'd need to be replaced. Mat or...

Russian Motor in a 31 Cabriolet

I have a Russian engine in a '29 Roadster. I know it's completely Russian as I had it apart for a valve job and rings recently. The crankshaft was marked "GAZ" as well as the tops of the pistons and connecting rods. It has a "GAZ" head and "GAZ' valve cover too. I always wondered if it was a...
