    Membership question

We had about thirty of them at Swift Packing Company in St, Paul MN. Two were hooked together and they went over the freeway to a small town where they were split a part and local drivers would deliver the meat to stores. The two empties from the previous day were driven back by the freeway...

    Membership question

I posted this in the Questions and Suggestions area, but apparently that section doesn't see much activity so I am trying here. Does my Ford Barn registration work for the H.A.M.B.? I tried to register there and it wouldn't accept my request. I was glancing through the H.A.M.B. and I noticed a...

    Jalopy Journal Registration

Does my Ford Barn registration work for the H.A.M.B.? I tried to register there and it wouldn't accept my request. I was glancing through the H.A.M.B. and I noticed a member asking a question about an old truck he purchased called a Wolf Wagon. A few people had bits and pieces about their...

58-62 292 factory air conditioning question

Here ya go. This may help you. Apparently there were two AC systems used in 61. One was built into the car on the assembly line and the other was a much simpler, dealer installed system. I installed a lot of aftermarket systems in various makes of cars in the late sixties. Usually we ordered...

    Power window relays

Mike, You are remembering correctly. The 55's had a power circuit directly from the starter solenoid to a 30 amp breaker and on to the motor relays. A second circuit (control circuit) ran from the ignition switch, through a 15 amp breaker, and to the switches. The switches controlled the...

    Power window relays

Abe, He is having a problem with a relay in a 55 window system. 57 Fords don't use relays. They control motor direction with the switches. If his system is still 6 volt, he needs a relay. A circuit breaker won't work.

    Power window relays

Jim, I have attached a power window wiring diagram from the 1956 Service Manual. I checked against some used 1955 relays I have and the wiring is the same colors as the 56 diagram. I suspect that this may be a 1955 diagram instead of 56 because the 1956 Classic Wiring diagram I purchased a few...

    Disc brake conversion kits again

KULTULZ, I found this paragraph on Page 5 of the instructions you had a link to. •It is highly recommended that a Wilwood proportioning valve (P/N 260-8419) be plumbed into the line that feeds both rear wheels. When installed and adjusted properly, it can reduce the chances of potentially...

1956 Ford Fairlane shop manual question.....

I have a 56 Service Manual and I was disappointed that the electrical system was broken into sections. I bought the Classic Car Wiring colored and laminated diagram and I have never regretted it.

    Under hood Insulation

The 19-49 Ford factory parts manual does not show insulation used in the hood, only a a extrusion that is installed on the cowl to seal the hood to the cowl.

1955 Ford Thunderbird overdrive solenoid install.

I copied this from a Borg Warner document "Rebuilding an R 10 overdrive" posted by the ClassicTruck.com website. I have a PDF copy in my transmission info file. I tried to post a link of the entire PDF from the Classic Truck website, but it's down for construction. My computer skills are...

1955 Ford Thunderbird overdrive solenoid install.

You mentioned that the solenoid you are installing is new. In that case make sure you do the check that is in the links that dmsfrr included in his post. It states that if the punger protrudes more than an inch without power applied it is defective. That is not always the case. There are three...

    Timing at full advance?

Ron, I think you really need to use a troubleshooting process that starts with a guess (hypothesis) and then use a test that tells you if you are right or wrong. You think the harmonic balancer has moved (hypothesis). OK, then check if the TDC mark on the balancer lines up with the pointer...

    Timing at full advance?

Ron, Some thoughts. The info SCIALA just posted is the best procedure when checking total timing. Your engine ID plate confirms it's an industrial engine. Most, if not all, industrial engines do not use a vacuum advance because they are usually single speed, and do not need more than 24...

Want to buy a '54 Mercury Monterrey 302ci V8 but the overflow is dripping?

Great looking car! I posted a pic of the left front upper A arm with arrows pointing to areas that look like they may have been welded or modified. Good chance that it may have been wrecked at some point in it's life. Also, there are no camber shims used on the A arm so either the camber is...

    1956 Victoria overdrive

DaveBPT, I agree with the previous posters that the T85 transmission is stronger than the T86. I don't believe however that the T85 was used in the 1956 passenger car behind the 312. I am building a T85 to replace the Fordomatic in my Victoria hardtop and I have found very little to support...
