How much diffrence in the two bell housings?

OK how much shorter is the bell housing on the AA as compaired to the A? Useing the AA housing would move the trans forward by how much? What is the A bellhousing made from is it Cast iron? Could a new one be made from steel? I am asking because I dont know and am intrested in this conversion...

So what is the diffrence between a standard A and the AA bellhousing? Could one be modified? Could you have one made? Anyone explored these options?

Update I did not strip the lugs they were already stripped. This was the first time I had the wheels off. There was a huge amount of powder coat build up and I think it pulled the drums out of round. Now for the repair I bought new cast iron drums with hubs installed to fix the stripped lugs...

I have a newbie question. I am thinking of repainting my fenders and running boards on a 31 ccpu. It looks as if the running boards are pinched between the cab and frame also between the bed and frame. Is this the case? If so How do you remove the boards and fenders? thanks
