Outstanding, thanks Eric. That's exactly what I needed to see. Now on the hunt for one of those manifolds... Much appreciated.

Ahh true. Thanks, look forward to the photos when they come through, will start searching for the right manifold.

That would be great, thanks Eric. I just haven't spent enough time around V8s to know how it's best done. I need to mentally prepare myself for these things nowadays so pics would be fantastic. And an 8BA manifold should be a bit easier to come by? How close to the starter does it run - any...

Hey yes I have to see him about something else once my brakes are done - just having a wee burst of tidying things up on the pickup and need to pick his brain a little.

Hi, yes I haven't gotten to asking anyone local yet, but hoped I might have seen some photos of different solutions for rhd. And when I remembered the manifolds I had stashed away in the shed last night I thought I'd post a pic and ask. I'm not sure if these manifolds are the original parts...

Thinking they might be a bit hard to find too, and maybe more expensive than working with what I have. I'm keen to see a photo of how others have run their front pipes to see where they track through all the clutter.

Would anyone have a photo of their manifold/headers running dual exhaust on a right hand drive 37-41? Have tried searching old threads but couldn't see any pictures. I don't have my pickup here but remembered today I had these manifolds from when my motor was in a stationary fire pump. Hoping...

I'm guessing the odds of two Merc woodies in the South Island is pretty slim! I only know what I remember from Dad telling me way back and I'm not sure what motor it had when it was in Invercargill. I have a vague idea the owners name down here was Scobie, (only lived about 3 streets away from...

The only Woody I know of that came to NZ was a Mercury, a 46 or 47. If I remember accurately it was brought out here by Lord Freyburg(?) after WW2 and eventually ended up in Invercargill. I believe the same guy who owned the 32 roadster that’s now in the above collection also owned the woody at...

Hi, down here in Invercargill there is an annual motorcycle rally in honour of Burt Munro (made internationally famous by the movie ‘The World’s Fastest Indian) and there are races each day of the event. The final race was a road race in an industrial area of town but by the sounds of it one of...

Hope you had a great trip for the Burt Munro weekend. I took the pickup in to town on the Thursday but my wife ended up getting 2 flat tyres in her car.... Took out our Model A on the Friday (and again today) but I didn't get to any of the motorbike events. Weather was pretty good apart from...

Correct, that's the one - I'll try and attach a photo of me as a 16 year old just before I was told I could take it for a spin! Being right into Model A's back then, it was like driving a Model A hotrod. I had my Dad in the passenger seat and it was as much a thrill for him too. He died not...

I'd also love to have a look through there one day - have heard lots about it. I believe the first early V8 I ever drove is in there - a 1932 roadster and would like to see it again. Was pretty hooked on V8s after that day...

Thanks for the advice above, and thanks for the call earlier today Richie. Had the kids out doing the hard work earlier, so a little bit closer...

Awesome - send us a message if you do and I'll bring the pickup into town - hope to be up and running well and truly by then!

Thanks, hope to get back underneath it soon so will give that a go - will do anything to get an extra mm or 2!

Thanks, yes I’d rather do this - (or remove the whole front axle) than upset all the front sheet metal. Thanks.

Is this to clear the front crossmember? Or steering gear? I’m not sure I’m going to be able to lift the motor in the shed I’m working in...

Yes that’s the one - I think we took it there when it opened that Burt Munro weekend from memory - back when the water stayed where the water should!

Thanks, that gives me a bit more hope...! any issues with clearances etc? Like you I'm keen to avoid upsetting the sheetmetal but don't want to get it half pulled apart and find there's one little catch that means I have to pull it all out anyway. Looks like I have to drop the front of the...
