Lol, hi 54vicky. I recon I got my label, so might as well wear it, but aren't we all strange in some form or fashion even if it doesn't show? At least I got a couple nibbles on my line in a pond that ain't been fished in 6 years.:D

Well, sometimes people don't have as stabile a job or profession as others and if their motor is on its last legs they may buy a whole motor while they have the money and even though they didn't mean to let it set up too long life happens, so it's best to do something to preserve it just in case...

DMSFRR I know that and I did look. I'm just going through the old posts. I figured that maybe they didn't post anymore because because they didn't get enough recognition, so I recognized them. I knew most likely they wouldn't see it, but you never know. Sometimes I look up old posts I made on...

I like it too. I mainly hate the changes that interfere with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I know that doesn't pertain to what you are saying, but while people including myself get all caught up in "little" things at the same time there are bigger fish a-frying if you know what I...

...6 years later: Sounds good Frank-- I'd like to see a picture of it if you still have it.

cohammer60, that's probably because of the ethenol fuel. Carbs like that probably worked well on the good ol gas of the 60s.

Set the carb timing with a spring? Ol goober sure has a way with words lol. I bet that "new" carb was really a rebuilt one and had the wrong spring on the idle mixture screw and the spring from the pen allowed the screw to be able to be screwed in farther to get the carb adjusted right. Anyhow...

Thank you Lanny

Had an old timer tell me to fill it up with oil--I guess that means to fill it where you add oil and fill the intake manifold also. Knew a fellow that stored a rebuilt one dry, but covered for many years and when he went to turn it to see if it was still loose it was locked up. I guess filling...

I think if people knew what we know they would be ranting too. I think a lot of people are on edge nowadays though. Govt. in our gas, govt. in our oil and now govt. in our faces with all this foolish face mask requirements and a lot of people just say "yes sir Mr. Govt." With no push back. I...

Lol, I just don't know how y'all got along without me. Nah, I knew the post was old, but I just wanted to throw in my $0.02 and plus it would put it back on top so y'all could come back and rag me a little. Hello to y'all...

I have used rubber, cork/rubber and cork. The unimproved pure cork fel-pro gaskets work the best and have reused the present one 3 or 4 times. I just stagger tighten them from front to back and back to front and then do a final recheck the same way. I use a 1/4 drive ratchet and hold it at the...

A common problem my brother in law told me was the injector on the driver's side in the back. Carbon is also an issue there in that spot. This is on early 90s ford trucks with a 302(5.0).

I hope the rebuild went alright. On my oil gauge the 20w-50 and 30wt performed very similar results. I don't think VR1 has enough of the good stuff to properly protect, but it is a last result option in my opinion. Not suggesting it because you said you are/were using it. Sounds like you were...

My 71 6cyl was almost ruint by that reduced zddp oil. I believed what "others" were saying about if the engine is stock and has stock springs, then I wouldn't have to be careful about getting an oil with higher zddp amounts. Well, the modern oil failed me. Now I use diesel oil again with a zddp...

I want to add that even though that 67 390 had impressive power I just figured out that it got around 20 mpg. I may have said 15 elsewhere, but that was a guess. Ran out of gas down the road from my house. Had only $5 to put in it, so got some in a jug and rest at the pump. Went to put in an...

If I may chime in, my advice is to have it looked over real good and if no solution is found just drive it and enjoy it. Never had or seen another vehicle do this but fords and it is common especially on fords from the 70s. I think that the front wheels stick out more than the rear and it gives...

I had a 77 with a 302 and it got 16-18 mpg soft peddling it on takeoff. The 16 is with 10-40 valvoline and driving it 70-90 on the highway with some mixed city driving. It got the 18 on valvoline 20-50 and doing 55 on a 2 lane state highway. Pulling a tandom car hauling trailer with scrap...

Lol to the posts above. Seriously though, I wonder where the rest of it is...I mean, did it all rust off or was it bombed and the other stuff was blown off?

Whoa man, I didn't think I was pounding on my chest and I believe the oil companies are doing the best they can with the demand that car companies are putting on them because "big bad" government (EPA) wanted the cat converters to last longer and had car companies to warrent them for longer. My...
