Wishbone ball on '28 A Roadster

Thanks for information and ideas. If the rubber is sufficiently disintegrated (and the radius ball itself measures true 1.5"), would it be best to replace with another rubber ball? Or to use the ball washer in the bottom cap to take up any slack in ball movement? I'm not clear of what the pros...

Wishbone ball on '28 A Roadster

Rubber ball cap. Should this be changed to the metal-to-metal cups with the spacers and springs? If so, why is the rubber ball cap not a good one? I noticed it mentioned in many places that the rubber ball cap is not satisfactory.

Wishbone ball on '28 A Roadster

I have read through lots of wishbone ball threads on FordBarn. Most mention side-to-side movement at the ball. My wishbone ball shows vertical, up/down play that I think is excessive. There is no side-to-side movement. Does this up/down play still mean that I should repair the ball? Or just try...

    Follow-up to wheels/races question...

What is purpose of the inner/outer races of wheel hubs/bearings? Stability? If wheel hub fits snugly on inner/outer bearings and there is no play, what is function of races?

    Wheel bearings and races

Am confused about races and wheel bearings for my '28 Roadster. Suppliers sell races for wheels but Les Andrews Volume I does not indicate any races in the drawings on pages 1-361 and 1-362. Clarification and explanation requested/much appreciated.

    Mirrors for '28 A Roadster

Auto:1928 Model A Roadster Engine No. A441356 Body: 40-A Having looked through all parts/suppliers offerings of peep/clamp-on/hinge/post mirrors, it is difficult to know the best mirrors (and best mounting fit) to purchase. Online/catalog images are difficult to see how mirrors would fit on my...

    Speedo question for mrbilman...

Or if anybody else who is familiar with the spacer fix solution (that mrbilman suggested on the August 2 post) and can comment on I would appreciate it. My real question is: Why would after-market speedometer cables be "short?" If some are short, is it advisable to keep purchasing an inner wire...

    Speedo question for mrbilman...

You stated in your August 2 reply to my speedo cable question that I can push the cable...into the drive gear and "measure how much sticks out of the speedometer end." As measured from where on the speedo cable? From the top of the tightening knob? From the bottom? Thanks in advance!

    Clutch pedal adjustment for "play"

Thanks! I'll try without a jack. If I need to use one I'll figure out where to position it to relieve the tension.

    Clutch pedal adjustment for "play"

Am new owner of restored 1928 Model A Roadster. Clutch pedal has no play and I need to adjust to approximately 1-inch free play. Les Andrews Volume I (page 2-8) states placing "...small hydraulic jack under the clutch actuating arm." Does this mean under the "arm" itself as in his accompanying...
