Powermaster gear reduction hi-torque starter install

I have the 9507 Powermaster Starter in my 34 Ford. It handles the french flathead easily. Due to my exhaust manifold I had to drill new fastening holes but that was it - no complaints after at least 10000km in the last 4 years.

    Inner Tubes

You can get high quality tubes with 4mm thick rubber for MX bikes. The rear wheel of such a bike is 19" so the size is near and the thick rubber is very strong. I only used these tubes when riding MX bikes.

    trailer hitch for a 34

Here are the pics. The hitch is removeable, two 1/2" bolts. Nothing visible from behind. The electric socket is resting on a genuine Ford stamped and coded plate - its the only genuine Ford part. Trailer hitches were not documented until the early fifties so nobody bothers me when the car gets...

    gas cap leak

I had a (non - working) lockable cap on my 34, spilling fuel when doing fast right turns with a full tank. I replaced the lock with a container attached to the cap that allows to breath enough but would need several clockwise laps with a full tank before the little container is filled with fuel...

Help!!! Mallory Zb distributor housing weld repair

Laser welding is your solution if you cannot machine it. If you have a lathe you could turn the diameter down and make shrink fit replacement.

    8BA/ 8RT oilpump pickup tube

I think you could get away without that extra shield. I run my french flathead without any sort of shield - just the cup with the mesh around 5/8" above the bottom of pan. Had to bend the tube and braze it to the cup. Never had a problem with lack of pressure.

    More head gasket problems

2023 I had a normal aspirated flathead in my 34 and used Best gaskets - they were useless as the filler material "flows" out under the copper tin. Might have to do with use of aluminium heads on an iron engine. Look for Marts thread about Best gaskets, he had the same problem. 2024 onwards I...

    Wanted Dual intake Flathead manifold

I search for a dual carb intake for a Ford flathead, 8BA or 59AB style. No generator mount needed. There must be laying one somewhere in your shelf. Let me know - thanks!

What a deal! - Be concerned...

....And no dual carb inlet manifold for a flathead as I am looking for one to convert for blower use.

    Hubcap positioning?

Can´t be done if there is not a nut on the other end but a threaded part.

    FH V8 oil pan

Check your oil for fuel contamination. This might explain the lower pressure.

    Serpentine System for Flatheads

I had a serpentine belt system on my flathead. It drove the blower as well but always started to slip at about 3500 revs. Putting more and more tension on the belt only resulted in a sqeaking bearing of the LH waterpump. When the clutch finally started to slip as well, it was time for a...

    Piston hitting heads!

When putting Edelbrock heads on one of my french motors, I found that the pistons just touch slightly at their peak point. I made a cutter to the shape of the piston and deepened the pockets in the heads. When doing this I found that those 4 pockets were not exactly parallel to the head and of...

Problems with Best brand head gaskets.

Same happened to me on my french engine with Edelbrock heads and the same Best gaskets. I built another engine, this time with a blower, and used the greased french gaskets with another pair of Edelbrocks. For the last 6000 km no problems despite up to 10 psi blower pressure.

    8BA front seals

I found differencies in the groove depth and shape of various oil pans. For example the groove in my french flatheads differs in width and deepness with the US Ford oil pan. When using the US pan I had to reshape that groove with a formpiece that was clamped over the groove that I filled with...

    New pistons New Rings

Davey, the base circle of the cam is more than 180 degr so you can be a tooth off and still have the correct valve clearance when piston is at TDC.
