Spent a bunch of time on it today. All sorted out now. Battery was bad. Pulled off all of the grounds & cleaned and sealed them. 100% improvement all around! Many thanks to all for your help!

Thanks!!!

What is proper voltage?

I have eliminated the rest, so battery it is! Will try a load test tomorrow!

I bet this is it! Will know tomorrow! Thanks!

Previous owner converted it to negative ground system.

Same as it has always been.

Where is the seond ground? The one coming off the negative on the battery goes to the chassis behind the battery.

They are quite large. Not sure if they are original, but definitely are not 12V size. It ran perfectly fine for years. It just started acting up last Summer.

Not any different than normal.

My '30 A coupe barely turns over & won't start. I have 6.12V at the battery. I pulled both battery terminals & cleaned them. Body Ground seems solid. Pulled starter & bench tested, works perfect. Next steps?

wmws Yes. Checked it multiple times. Everything shuld be perfect. Just not understanding what it could be. Very odd.

OK. So, Now I've tried adjusting the timing 4 or 5 times according to this commonly used description. There are a bunch of these descriptions out there & are all pretty much identical. It ran OK before I started, but backfired out the muffler in between shifts & only ran fully advanced. now it...

And which way do I need to rotate the steering column? Clockwise or counter clockwise? Thank you both for your input.
