    6V optima battery

Hi Mac, I bought one in Apr. 2012 and so far it's been fine. At that time, Optima was offering a $25 mail in rebate. I don't know if they do that regularly, but you may want to look on their website. You'll need a different hold down to secure it.

    I"m back ! (finally)

My old Dell with XP was doomed because it couldn't be updated. I bought a HP laptop and it runs on Windows 7. I purchased ESET anti-virus and it's been trouble free. Stay away from Windows Explorer. Use Mozilla Firefox for the net.

    6 volt Battery Tender Plus

I'm with Tom. I had an expensive Snap-on battery charger burst into flames, while I had it on a car I was working on. It had worked perfectly up until that time.On my A, he I now use a clock/lamp timer on a low output standard charger. It only comes on for one hour and it's during the day when...

What Brand of Multimeter Do You Suggest?

I've used Flukes for 30+years. They are expensive but provide lots of built in features. When airbags arrived on Volvos in the early 80's we were required to use them because the ohm meter didn't have enough current to deploy them when we needed to do circuit tests. I still have the ones I got...

    American pickers

My wife and I went to NYC last fall for Antiques Roadshow. We had things that we weren't able to identify. One of the appraisers we saw was knowledgeable and friendly. The next "expert" we saw told us to "Go home and look it up on the internet". I asked him to show me where it is on line, and...

Anyone try open end ratcheting wrenches?

I like the Gear Wrench ratcheting box wrenches. They're good in tight access uses. They can take lots of torque and have a lifetime warranty.

    Soldering Question

I used to use an electric gun until I bought a PowerProbe Torch kit from the tool man. It works so well I took the time to write a review on it. I've found that using small dis. rosin core with some silver content works well. Using flux is also a big help. A can or tube from Radio Shak will last...

A neat trick to retrieve a bolt from inside the bell housing

Hi Milford, I have some magnets that are used in the electronic throttles on new cars. They will hold 4 or 5 pounds in place. Their profile is about 3/8". I'll save one for you.

    american pickers

Those guys don't actually drive around to find their stuff. Their crew and set is already done when they fly in to do the show. As far as Discovery paying good, I know the're pretty cheap when it pays the actors for some of their other shows.

    Batteries...batteries...batteries

Hi Al. When I got my 31 S/W the battery was beyond usable. I checked out both types (wet cell and spiral cell). I found that the Optima had more cold cranking amps and had a better warranty than the Interstate. Google search found the best price and I paid $109, before a discount coupon from...
