    1947 Hore Ring

Petehoovie, thanks for the enlarged pictures. TJ, I wasn’t sure if the whole inner assembly had to be replaced as an assembly or if only the broken outer ring was available and then revited back on to the inner assembly.

    1947 Hore Ring

Finally was able to get the horn ring off, but part of the assembly is damaged. Wondering if the broken ring can be replaced or do I have to get a whole new assembly. Also it looks like the nut on the steering shaft is wrong , what is the would be the correct nut to use.

    1947 Hore Ring

Thanks Deuce and 47 , that gives a good picture of what needs to be done to get it off. I think I have one side off and the melted felt is holding the other side from allowing the ring to be fully lifted out. Flathead47

    1947 Hore Ring

I am having the issue getting the horn ring off my steering wheel as well. It looks like the felt as Kube states has melted and is creating the problem. Does anyone have a picture of what the is underneath when the ring/button assembly is off the wheel so I get a better feel how to move forward...

My 1947 convertible does not have the stock horns. What is the measurement for the correct horns for a convertible with the power top. I have picked couple of sets but they are two different lengths. I know the lengths are different within the set , but none of the horns in these sets are the...

Replacement tires for 41-48 ford convertible

The 6.00-16 tires need replacement. Looking at diamondbacks auburns. Will be going with big and little look. What are some of the combos you are using. Rims are stock. I am thinking 5.50R-16 or 6.00R-16 on the front and 6.50R-16 or 7.00R-16 on the rear. Pictures if you have , pro’s or con’s...

    Bumper Hitch / Mullins

I would be concerned about the bumper hitch that it would put a lot of strain on it. Those trailers are light even loaded and bounce a lot behind our cars. I watched a friends mullins bounce off the road many times , with the roads we drive on , he had a hitch attached to his frame. I guess it...

    T5 advice

There is one other option instead of the hogs head & that is the one year only 1951 mercury bell that has the stock cross shaft & throw out fork. You need the same year starter plate. A simple flat adaptor plate is made to attach the bell & T5 together

    2nd gear disengaging

I would also recommend getting Mac Van Pelts book , shows you how to disassemble , reassemble , determine what parts are worn and need to be replaced. You may want to talk to members of the Vancouver Fraser Valley RG#120 Early V8 Ford Club as they are in your area. Look for a spare transmission...

    1946 - 1948 Convertible frame structure

Thanks flathead48 , I can check for those mounts. The gaps & door alignment is good on the car , no door sagging , so I probably have all the convertible related mounts & brackets required. I kept reading about the convertible frames being different & looking under the car really didn't know...
