Alternator that looks like a generator. Is there such a thing.

ndnchf, I just came accross this post and am looking for a generator for my stock 1954 Mercury. Do you have a rebuilt in stock and, if so, will you require a core?

    Ford 385 Family Engine 370 429 and 460

Kultulz, thanks for your reply. I was a bit cocerned about the 370 block in the first place and the FTE page sort of cleared my concerns. I found a really nice 390 GT engine for my swap instead.

    Ford 385 Family Engine 370 429 and 460

I have found a 385 Series 370 bored to 429 that I am considering to transplant into my 1956 F-500 flatbed hauler. Looking for constructive comments before I pull the trigger, i.e. interchange and availability of parts between the 370, 429, and 460 (or other families), transmissions, pluses and...

Modifying Butch's SBF to 54-58 Ford Engine Mounts

I have a similar question regarding motor mount availability for a swap of a 385 series (370cid) into a 1956 F-500. Is anything readily available or will it have to be fabricated?

    1954 Merc powere steering conversion.

Welcome to the world of Sun Valley owners. Mine is a 3 speed with OD and no power steering and I get by fine, even when towing my vintage trailer. It seems there was a thread recently in parts wanted for all the necessary parts for power steering. I, too, have had full shoulder replacement...

Old Redneck, I have attempted to e-mail you and jackrabbit but I don't know if the messages went through. I have a few parts that will be needed for an install. Private message me?

    exhaust manifolds identification

Thanks for all of the comments. I can now be fairly certain to market them as 1954 Ford 239 while still fitting a 256, 272, and 292, depending on which heads match with the size of openings.

    exhaust manifolds identification

I have a set of Y-block exhaust manifolds and cross-over that I need help identifying as to fitment. The numbers are EBU-9430-B and EBU-9431-C. They were on a 1954 256 cid Mercury but the Mercury parts manual uses the prefix EBY for 1954 instead of EBU. I am guessing that they may be for a...

    1954 Mercury Tail Lights

John, the p.o. mush have been a moonshiner! Turn off the tail lights, disconnect the brake lites at the master cylinder and go like the wind. Glad I could help. Lanny

    1954 Mercury Tail Lights

John, the pics I saw of your car seem to show it has an auto trans. If that is the case, my repair manual shows a black with red tracer for the lamps(s) in the auto trans selector indicator on the column head. I will look further in my wiring diagrams to see if I can find anything else...

    1954 Mercury Tail Lights

John, I just looked at my old, spare dash and this is what I found. The switch has 6 terminals and 5 of the wires go into a loom. The remaining wire which appears to be black (original and deteriorating) is long enough to terminate where you are looking but it joins another wire at the bullet...

    1954 Mercury Tail Lights

John look for the black wire from the light switch that connects to the black wire to the tail lights near the cowl above or near the e-brake handle. There should be a bullet connector there on one end or the other.
