I don't think you said if the fan, belts or generator were mounted when you heard the noise. I had a squeal develop on an engine I had just finished rebuilding.It turning out to be the wrong fan belt (new, purchase from a Ford parts supplier). Problem solved. I also had an old chevy engine...

Will a 53 Ford overdrive transmission fit in place of a non overdrive transmission?. Will the drive shaft have to be cut ?. The vehicle is a 1953 Ford Pickup with a Mercury engine. It currently has a regular column shift transmission. The overdrive transmission is also column shift. Don in SC

Who do you recommend for fuel pumps, carb rebuild kits for 1939 to 1953 that will tolerate ethanol fuel. Several friends of mine in NC have early ford V8's that would like to know. Thanks in advance. Don in SC

Does anyone know of a power steering conversion for a 53 ford PU? The engine is a 51 mercury flat head V8. The wheels are 15" Ranger. Unfortunately I spent 10 weeks in the hospital and rehab getting over pneumonia and I no longer have the strength to turn the steering wheel when parked. No fun...

A friend of mine has been having problems with elec. fuel pumps failing after a short time. He has a 50 Mercury and lives in N. Tonawanda, NY. There aren't many gas stations in his area that carry non ethanol fuel. What kind of elec. fuel pump do you recommend? Don in SC
