Agreed, that's what we did. Main problem is if you don't keep the retainer EXACTLY centered when releasing the spring compressor, it will knock off one of the keepers. You can't exactly see what you are doing with the engine in the car. Engine out of the car and on an engine stand is another...
The only issue I have with the modern valves is installing the keepers when the engine is installed. Original keepers are much easier to install. Granted, not something you do very often (hopefully never).
I bring this up because recently a member's car stuck a valve and we had to remove it...
Here is the thread I think you were referring to. That was 11 years ago. https://www.fordbarn.com/threads/carburetor-13-32-deep-well-socket.160740/ Haag hasn't beed on Ford Barn since 2017.
Isn't a Harley carb a side draft, not an up draft? If so, you will have to fab an adaptor/elbow.
i once saw a Pinto that had Honda 4 cylinder carburetors. Looked cool with 4 CV carbs.
Red should go to Positive and Black to Negative. If you have original Positive Ground, this should be correct. If you have negative Ground, this connection is reversed.
Good morning, John. I just ensured the door frame was free of dirt and oil. I wiped it down with a shop towel. The tape has a pretty strong glue on it (package sez it will hold 30 lbs).
That may have been me. I used 1" wide Gorilla Tape for the door panels in my '30 Town Sedan. Worked great and I have had no issues.
