    windshield frame

Any tips on disassembling my windshield frame to paint and re-seal would be appreciated. (It's sitting on my bench) The search option reveals nothing, the 'Red' Les Andrews book nada, etc. I've seen a "How to" blow up and procedure somewhere but it's lost in my aging brain. Thanks for any help.

    Sound deadener

Years ago a friend of mine used roofing "Bull Tar" on the inside of his doors as a sound and vibration deadener. Seemed to work as I recall. Anyone ever tried it . I'm at that stage of assembly.

    Help storing a bare block

I just got my engine back from the family of my machinist friend who unexpectedly died a couple years ago. I'll need to "pickle" the newly bored bare block and crank and would appreciate some guidance as to what to use. Just grease up the cylinders and crank surface's with lube or bearing grease...

I know the 28 thru 31 manuals are reproduced but was the late 31 reproduced with the side bowl? Had an opportunity to purchase a late manual but it was too perfect so I passed. Thanks

Carb leaking question...FIXED. AND IT FIRED UP FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!

My leaking carb question that I posted yesterday wasn't what I thought it was. It looked like it was leaking from where the 2 halves joined, but turned out to be the gasket where the side bowl joined the carb. The gas was running along the bowl seam giving the appearance that the main gasket or...

    Carb leaking question

Ready for my initial start up of my 3 year chassis build (man I'm slow) and found gas is leaking pretty bad around the upper and lower halves of my Zenith side bowl carb. I've tightened the bottom bolt as tight as I feel comfortable and it still leaks. The large size of the leak leads me to...

    Wall art

A few months back someone was posting and in the background, on his garage wall, was a cool example of wall art. It consisted of front end parts of a Model A...working headlights, a half of a wheel under each partial fender on either side giving the effect of the car coming through the wall and...

    Period correct listening device

After following Fred K-OR's clicking mystery and suggested listening devices I thought I'd share this oldie I picked up. I collect antique telephones and purchased this several years ago on Ebay just for the earpiece. Well, after examining it a little closer I realized it's a period correct...

    A good today

Took advantage of a beautiful day to finally get some work done on my coupe chassis. Thought I'd share. Dropped the rebuilt engine in with the help of my son and all went pretty smooth. With out a frame spreader our creative juices got to flowing and we did well with 2x4's in various positions...

    dished shaped flywheel

I have a question that's bothered me for years and maybe someone here can supply an answer. Years (and years) ago I had my '69 428 cj mustang flywheel surfaced because it had a very noticeable dish to it's surface. The machine shop said they had never seen one like that where they had to grind...

    Throttle controll question

Evening all. Cleaning up a throttle controll ( bolts to the top of the bell housing) before installation and have a question. Do the two oil holes on the top of the linkage that lubricate the cross shaft have some sort of "wick" type plugs in them or are they just left open. I would think they'd...

    Mystery numbers on frame??

Finally got my late Sept. '31 coupe frame out of my "garage of doom" to do a little blasting. As I was checking for frame sag I came across these 5 numbers stamped on the passenger side top frame rail. They're in the same location as the original frame stamps but on the opposite side by the...

    Do I have a 30 or 31??

The ongoing thread of Brubaker '31 std Fordor (160A) has some posted comments that bring up a question regarding my Town Sedan. I have a titled 1931 with matching numbers, frame and block, that correspond to a build date of Dec. 1930. It has a '31 radiator shell, single piece '31 splash...
