    Scavenger Hunt

This was a fun game my old motorcycle forum group used to play. It may be getting a little late into the season for some of us to get the cars out to play but I thought I would throw it out there and see what sticks... The Rules are simple: 1. All photos must be taken after THIS post is posted...

    Easy Carb Questions

What is the name of the brass piece that goes in the carb where the fuel line attaches? My Tillitson doesn't have one and the one from my Marvel doesn't fit it. I want to swap out carbs while I send my Marvel off to be professionally rebuilt.

If you guys were to get a new engine where would you go? I want a new engine for my coupe but I don't want to give away the engine currently in the car. I want to use it as a self educational tool so I can learn more about working on the little beast. Thanks for any info you guys can provide

    Fan Belt Tension

I've just put a new belt on my Car, and when I start the car I get a bad squealing noise. I can tighten the belt, go for a drive and all is well, but when I park the car for a couple hours and restart it the noise comes back. I'm open to suggestion on correcting this problem. Thanks in advance

Which Carb is best, and why?

I'm still in the process of getting all the kinks worked out of my 29 Coupe. Currently the car has a Marvel Schebler (sp?) carburetor on it and I have a Tillotson sitting on my work bench. I've been told that a should invest in a Zenith for the car as that is what it came with originally and...

    heavy steering

I've driven cars without power steering before and I've never had a problem. I know the steering is quite heavy when the car isn't moving, but it always seemed to get easier once going, I drove my car home yesterday from Seymour, TN back to Soddy-Daisy, and there were a couple times on some...

    A Special Thanks!

I want to extended a special thank you to Brent Terry and the Technicians at his shop. I brought them my 29 that hadn't been run in over 20 year (and I couldn't figure it out) and was able to get her purring right along. I've still got some tweaking to do, but Brent and his team were able to...

    Your Model A

Because I like hearing people's story about things in which we share a mutual interest: What made you decide to acquire a Model A? What made you pick the body type you have? How has your experience with the car been since you had it? I'll be glad to start. I've said before this was my...

    dropping/cleaning the oil pan

another newbie questions. (I do appreciate all the advice and patience you guys have with me) My A has been sitting for a little over 20 years. When my grandpa restored it I'm certain he used a non-detergent oil in the car. I'm certain there is probably sludge build up in the oil pan from...

Just wondering if anyone has ever taken your model a to a ford dealer for work? or asked them for parts just to see what they'd say. I ask only out of pure curiosity.

    oil pan gasket

Simple questions really, I searching the forums hasn't really lead me to the answer I'm seeking. I'm getting ready to drop the oil pan and clean the old oil out of the pan, but I want to replace the gasket. What's better to use, a paper or cork gasket? I want to use what is going to work the...

    Crank starter

I'm trying to get my A back on the road after 20 years in the garage. I wanted to turn the engine over by hand a little and let some oil work its way through the engine. When I put the crank in the front of the car and pulled it wouldn't budge. I'm not the strongest guy but not I'm not exactly...

    dangers of an 8 volt

I was talking to one of the technicians in the shop today about the ford, he suggested using an 8 volt battery in place of the 6. Anyone done this? what dangers would I face by doing this? I don't want to burn anything up

    sediment bulb/fuel filter

another newbie questions. I'm still working on getting the tank cleaned out as I haven't been able to spend a lot of time on it. I've read through several threads here talking about the sediment bulb and adding a fuel filter. Where might I might the sediment bulb? Also, I'm used to dealing...

I'm finally getting to work on my old A to get her up and running again. I have two questions and I'll admit i'm completely ignorant on this. Where is the oil filter or does this car even have one? What can I expect from the motometer (I think that's what it's called) sitting on top of the...
