    Safe Mouse Nest Removal

I am in the restoration process on a Model A that was stored for many years. I have discovered more than one nest tucked away in the seat springs. Normally I would just reach in and pull out and/or vacuum out to remove as much as possible. Also, the upholstery will be removed anyway since it is...

I am needing a good rumble lid to convert during my restoration. I have a very good trunk lid that I would trade if desired.

    Zenith Carb Rebuild

Is it a good idea or a bad one to put a little anti-sieze on the secondary well threads before screwing it in. Will it help later in possible future repairs or rebuilds?

    Carburetor Float Level Test

I am rebuilding my Zenith carburetor and want to test the float level. I have everything I need to do so. I am still in the middle of a total restoration and the car will not be running for a while. I want to rebuild the carb and have it ready for when it is ready to run. My question is this...

    Zenith Carb Rebuild

I am rebuilding my Zenith carb. Is there a place that lists all the thread specifications on the top and bottom body halves? Some of the threads are going to have to be cleaned up. I am familiar with the M5 used with the jets and have one of those. I was really hoping they would be listed...

    Universal Joint Grease

I am going through a complete restoration of a 30 model std coupe. So the reassembly of the drivetrain is currently clean and dry. Reading Les Andrews mechanical book, he states that a "liberal amount" of grease should be pumped into the universal joint area. Just how much is a liberal amount...

Pinion gear removal from drive shaft

Does anyone know a trick to removing pinion gear from the drive shaft without damaging it. The nut has been removed but the gear is 80 years of stuck. Do you heat the gear? Any thoughts? I have learned many tricks so far from this board that have save much money and blood. Thanks, Mitch

    Brake Adjusting Shafts

I have removed the brake adjusting shafts from the front brakes on my 30 coupe. They appear to be in very good shape and very little wear. I was reading in Les Andrew's Mechanics Handbook that the length is not important, but that they match in length. My question is what is the allowable...

Do I have an unusual front spring?

I am in the long and tedious process of restoring a 1930 Standard Couple. After removing the front spring, I noticed that it had 11 leaves. Everything I have seen in catalogs and such only shows 10. Is this an unusual spring or did they come with 11 sometimes?

    Old-No-Very Old Gas

I have a 1929 Tudor Sedan that I am now trying to get running and mechanically sound so that I can drive and enjoy it while fully restoring a 1930 standard coupe. When I looked in the gas tank, which I thought had been drained long ago, I found it still has quite a bit of very old gas in it...

Drive Shaft Seal Question from first time restorer

When replacing the drive shaft seal, the seal comes out the front end (U-joint end) doesn't it? The bearing race must be removed then the seal, correct? The reason I am asking is I am having a whale of a time getting it out and I wanted to make sure that I am pushing or pulling in the right...
