Wanted model t starter brush holder

I'm overhauling the starter on my Model T and I have one broken brush holder . The stud where the spring mounts is broken off. Does anyone have a spare used brush holder? An end plate with at least one good brush holder is fine, too. Thanks! Bill in Conn. thebraislins@gmail.com 860-364-8064

    Stromberg of carburetor

I have a Stromberg OF carburetor on my 24 Model T and it runs really well. My only problem is that it drips gas when it is sitting unless I shut off the fuel. I know Stan Howe made a viton needle and seat several years ago but he has since sadly passed away. I understand a new needle with a...

    Stromberg of carb. Parts

A few years ago I think I read in the forum there was a man reproducing needle and seats and maybe a few other parts for Stromberg OF carburetors. Does this ring a bell to anyone. If so, do you have a name or email? Thanks! Bill

Model t splash pans / aprons

I have a 24 T. When I overhauled the engine a few years ago, I did not put the splash pans / aprons back on. My thinking was it might get better air circulation around the engine and run cooler. Also, I don't think there is a real need for splash pans the way we drive Model T's today. Does...

    Model t aluminum head question

Thanks for all the replies to my last post. I purchased a Z aluminum head for my 24 model T. I am using a copper head gasket. Should I use copper spray sealer? I know the head and block will have different expansion rates when hot because of the dis-similar metals, aluminum and cast iron. Is...

    Model t aluminum intake

Hi, Is anyone using an early aluminum intake manifold on a later year model T? Does either an early aluminum intake or an after market high speed intake sold by the T vendors make a difference when paired with an original 1924 carburetor? Thanks! Bill

    More power 24 t

I have a 24 Model T Roadster. It has aluminum pistons, distributor ignition, a Ruxtell axle and a low head. It seems to me to not have a lot of power on hills. I see in the catalogs, aluminum heads, high-flow intake manifolds, etc. advertised. Has anyone made any of these modifications and...

    1946-48 mercury radio delete plate

Hi everyone, Still looking for a radio (block off) delete plate for a 46-48 Mercury. It is the same shape as the 46-48 Ford car delete plate but I understand it is all stainless with the Mercury head or heads embossed into it. I have never seen one. Thanks for any help. Bill Braislin Sharon...

Not using an ignition resistor on my 48 mercury

Hi Ford Barn Folks, My 48 Mercury is still 6 volt pos. ground. It has the original dual point distributor. Before I got it, someone had removed the ignition resistor behind the gauges. So I am always getting a full 6 volts to the distributor. Will this burn out the points quickly? Should I...

Hi, I bought a pair of (correct) fog lights at Hershey a few weeks ago. I will be installing them on my 48 Mercury convertible. They mount on the filler panel between the bumper and the grill. Does anyone know how far apart they should be? If the distance between them is too close or too far...

Hi, I'm looking for the correct radio delete plate for my 48 Mercury. I have one from a Ford that fits but I understand the Mercury delete plate is different. I think it is stainless with a Mercury head embossed in the center. I've never seen one. Does anyone know if there is such a thing or...

6 volt overdrive relay with 12 volts

Just a quick question. I know a 12 volt Ford with overdrive must use a 12 volt solenoid because a 6 volt solenoid can't handle the higher voltage. How about the relay? Is anyone using a 6 volt overdrive relay with a 12 volt system. Will a 6 volt relay hold up with 12 volts? Thanks! Bill...

    Never seen this before

My 48 Mercury engine was rebuilt just before I purchased it. One thing that bothered me was that the heads were not 59AB heads. I found the correct heads at Hershey a few years ago and installed them. I was also curious to take a look inside the engine. The engine was re-bored .060 over and...

Hi, I am looking for an oil pump pick up tube and screen for a 48 Mercury or Ford. I have a new, correct NOS "long shaft" oil pump and I need the pick up tube and screen that go with it. I'm pretty sure that 42-48 Mercurys. and Fords would all use the same part. The later flatheads used a...
