    Model A Engine Marine Conversion

Thought I'd post some photos of a marine converted model A engine. I came across all the parts that had been stripped off a model A block, which the owner was going to replace in his car. The conversion parts were going to be thrown away which I thought was too bad, as this definitely...

Cover Screws for Trico Vacuum Wipers

I have noticed that there are two versions of the screws holding the top lid to the bowl on the Trico vacuum wipers. I have studied the top cover screws on some original TR-C1 wipers. The “top hat" portion of those screws is almost the same diameter as that of the widest portion of the screw. On...

    Trico vacuum wiper plating

30/31 Deluxe models are usually equipped with Chrome plated windshield wipers. In my instance (30’ 68B) it is a TR-C1 B. I would really like to get this correct on my car, and wonder if there is any special advice on the process to plate the pot metal parts of the wiper. This, as my usual...

Cowl light wire routing behind cowl panel

Installing the cowl light wiring and the instructions that came with the wiring says that the part where the two wires are enclosed in a loom should go up through the cowl pillar, however in that gase the wire is too short. Should the wires rather just hang straight down behind the cowl panel...

Fabric Wiring Loom Sizing and Use - No JS information

I am trying to figure out which size of fabric loom to use on a May 1930 Cabriolet I have access to remains of the front part of an original harness, which shows a very wide loom for the headlamp wires measuring 11/16 inner diameter. This, however is for a standard car with 3 wires to each...

Caution, Drilling guide for wiper holes in W/S frame

Bought a new windshield frame without pre-drilled holes for the wiper. There were paper guides in the box for locating where to drill the holes. However the guides don't seem to be correct. When checking against an original frame the guides are about 3/16 off. (See photo) Also checked with the...

Checked the anti freeze at the top of the radiator and to my surprize it was only holding down to +5 deg F. Garnish Molding Mahogany Woodgraining

Did some mahogany woodgraining using the ink-transfer kit from grain-it technologies. It really took a lot of practice and trial and error on extra pieces, but in the end I think it turned out well. The major points of experience for me was : - Wiping off excess ink doesn't work. The ink that...

Any recommendations as to which solvent to use to remove solidified residues of flux from silver soldering (brazing). Most of it forms a glass like layer that will crack away when using a scraper. However, some of it is hiding in pores left behind after removing rust. I would like to use a...
