"V- Notch" on the top of cab doors

I was messing around with the truck today and just noticed that both doors have a v-notch on the top of each door. The wide part of the v faces in. There is no matching fitting on the cab at that point. What is the "V" for? I don't think Henry did anything without a purpose. Thanks Ned

    "Diamond engine"

Took my '29 CCPU to Sam at Arizona Model A yesterday. Sam took a look at it and informed me that it has a "Diamond" engine, which, even though I've been messing with these since the early '60's I'd never heard of. When I got home I did some research and discovered a code of K107 on the engine...

Looking for vintage Model A Hot Rod magazine annual

I've been looking for a copy of a soft cover magazine that I think was published by Hot Rod/Petersen. It was a fairly thick magazine of the "annual" type publication and I think it was from the early '70's or maybe even '60's. It had lots of pictures of stock A's as well as various hot rods from...

    Service Brake Cross Shaft lubrication

I just disassembled the shaft and the bushing are completely seized (no wonder the brakes were so crappy!). After freeing them up I'm considering drilling them and installing two grease zerks. Has anybody done this? Surprisingly the bushings themselves don't seem worn at all. Thanks, Ned

Kelsey-Hayes rims on new cast iron

I've installed cast iron rear drums but now my K-H rims won't fit. It seems that the new emergency/parking brake casting is larger than original. Has anybody else encountered this? What is your solution? I've been grinding the welds where the spokes join the rims, but they still won't fit. Is...

    Thrust bearings from Boston Gear?

I'm in the process of rebuilding the front brakes of my '29 ccpu. I have the king pins out and the old roller type (yes roller) thrust bearings are probably not reusable. I still have an unused kit from my old roadster in 1971, and the ball- thrust bearings are actually marked Made in the USA...

    Motor Stuck?

Well, I've been pleasantly fussing around with my '29 CCPU- rebuilt the water pump, installed a new radiator and hoses, and put in new front motor mount springs, all of which were missing. To fit the motor mount springs I jacked up the front of the motor after removing the rear mount bolts...
