    Crab Condenser relocation

I have seen on some previous posts, where they relocate the ('42 - '48) crab distributor condenser to an area up near the coil, in a more accessible area. Having the recent occasion(s) to replace my condenser (mounted on the distributor) along the roadside has made me think of that. Any...

Fighting a "missing then stall problem" when hot

Battling this for several weeks now with no resolution, only frustration. Basically, I am seeking an answer to a question at the bottom on this post. 59AB motor rebuilt 1 year ago. Ran fine. At time of rebuild: Bubba distributor, Charlie NY 94 carb, can style coil bypassing the resistor...

    One leaky head stud

After about 1200 miles, I have one head stud that is showing signs of a leak. Can I just remove the nut, clean, apply sealer and re-torque nut? Or will I have to remove stud and seal that? What is best sealer? Thanks.

    '42 - '48 Passenger Heater Core

I need a repairable (or good) heater core. The existing one is too far gone. A new 7 3/4 X 7 3/4 X 2 1/2 core block is rather pricey. The repair guy suggested finding another one to try. Thanks. Jim

    Picture of Firewall needed

On my '47 V8 sedan, the previous owner installed a non-stock heater/defroster. In fact, it is from a '49 - '54 Chebby truck. At Carlisle last week, I located an original '46 - '48 heater/def unit. Plans are to swap them this winter. The problem I have is, the current heater unit is installed...

    Resistor question

Just a quick question before I proceed. Currently running a "modern" coil in stock '47 V8 installed by previously owner. Looking under dash, it appears he bypassed the original resister, I assume, because 2 wires are on one post. Going back to the original style of Ford coil for the year (1GA...

    Ring and "O"pinion

Think I found the cause of rear end howl between 25 and 50 miles per hour. Just disassembled the '47 rear end. Gears are 34 and 9 (3.78:1), which surprises me due to the lousy gas mileage. Quite worn on gear face, raising a nice burr on the outside of ring gear. Going to be my first banjo...

    Carb question?

'47 V8, single Model 59 carburetor. After sitting more than a week, fuel bowl empty. Have to add add a 1/2 cup of fuel in carburetor to start. I know this is not normal. Could it be evaporating? Car is in attached garage and no sign of fumes and nothing on intake near carb. Normal otherwise...

    Rebuilt motor installation options

Question for the experts... Now that I have the 59A motor rebuilt and sitting on the floor, I am pondering my next move. It was professionally rebuilt, but not run by the re builder because at the time, the starter, carb and distributor were not available. I have the capabilities to run it on...

Universal Joint Decision: rebuild or new

Seeking opinions, please. '47 sedan, stock driveline. Getting ready to reinstall rebuilt motor and ******. U-joint looks ok, a little play.
