Correct Color for the Unity Series 2 Fog Light hardware

I'm restoring a set of Unity, Series 2 Fog Lights for my 34 Ford Cabriolet. I've cleaned up the metal parts that secure them to the bumper brackets which are painted a low gloss black. What color should I paint them? In the past I have copied the body color, but it never looked quite right...

    1934 Speedo issue

My newly installed speedo doesn't work in the cabriolet. The head unit has been checked out professionally as OK, the cable is new and can operate the head unit via a drill, so the problem must be the turtle. Before I tackle removing the turtle is there a right way or a wrong way to install this...

    On the road again!

My 34 Cabriolet is finally through the New Zealand Certification process and is now back on the road again! I’m now onto finishing off the interior that I left bare for the inspection process. I thought some photos may be of interest. It’s been a mission and I would like to thank all those...

    34 Petrol Pump issue resolved

A few weeks back I posted about my close shave with gas pumping out of my carburettor and the subsequent fire risk. As per suggestions I had the petrol pump pressure tested, it was a whopping 6 psi! After looking at all the options I've had a Malapassi Petrol King installed and the pump is now...

    Stromberg 97 Issue

This afternoon Flathead Ted came over to check out the Cabriolet, now nearing completion. I fired it up and suddenly it's running rough and gas starts streaming out over the garage floor! Quickly I turned it off, averting total disaster. Undoing the main inlet we discovered an S-Jet inlet valve...

A phone number for Westcotts Auto in Oregon

I'm a New Zealand member of the Ford Barn and would like to get hold of someone at Westcotts Auto in Oregon by phone. Does anyone have a regular phone number for them, as opposed to an 800 number, as I cannot access these numbers from here. I've also had some trouble emailing them. I'm after...

    34 Cabriolet window installation

Any tips on how to install the windows in a 34 Cabriolet? I've had a couple of tries and no go. They are heavy and awkward and don't want to sit in the track. What am I doing wrong? I have replaced all the various rollers in the frame and they appear to be working smoothly.

    re 34 Cabriolet Sun Visors

I was under the impression that 34 Cabriolets did not come out with sun visors. However, I came across a reference to them actually coming out with them fitted in 'Early Ford V8s As Henry Built them" on p. 111! Can anyone confirm this? If so, what material would they be made out of? Mohair? This...

Side Anti Rattle bumper on a 34 Rumble lid

I understand that at the top of the channel that the rumble lid sits in there is a an anti side rattle bumper. Does anyone have a pic of this. None of the early part suppliers seem to have it although they do stock the top dome rubber stop and the bottom square rubber stop.

    1934 Cabriolet Rear Window Frame

I need a 'correct' 34 Roadster/Cabriolet rear window frame. This is the 'letter slot' model that measures approx. 5 inches by 24 inches. I'm happy to pay the 'correct' price! This needed to complete a new hood for my 34 Cabriolet.

    1934 Cabriolet Rear Window

I'm searching for a correct rear window frame unit for my 34 Cabriolet. Macs have a couple of larger, squarer ones but I'm looking for the correct 'letter-slot' that measures approx. 5 x 24 inches. Any suggestions as to who might stock one?

Can anybody elucidate why these spokes are adjustable? Can regular tires fit on them? Do they require the extra rim?

    re Adjusting 34 Cabriolet Doors

A while back I took a scan of a page from a Ford Bulletin that I found on-line of a page of detailed instructions on the adjustment of 34 Cabriolet doors. Unfortunately and stupidly the scan I made was so low resolution that when I printed it I cannot read the issue or page number of the...

Installing radiator, grille and bonnet on a 1934 car

I'm just beginning to think about putting the radiator, grille and bonnet back onto my 34 cabriolet and am trying to find some recent posts that describe the correct order and subtleties of this operation. My search of the site is coming up empty, even although I know the topic has been...

Adapting a LHD Columbia valve control to RHD

I'm putting a Columbia 2-Speed under my 34 Cabriolet, and I have purchased all the parts from John Connolly. However, the control valve that sits in front of the clutch pedal is specifically LHD and bolts on to the back of the gearbox. Has anyone adapted or made a conversion plate so this unit...

    34 Cabriolet window questions

I am up to assembling the window units in my 34 Cabriolet restoration and am seeking some guidance. I have all 4 interior guide rails, although the edge felts are very worn and I have 1 original cabriolet window winder mechanism for the right hand driver’s door. I obtained this from the US where...

    34 Ignition Key problem solved

After restoring the steering column of my 34 Cabriolet, all nicely painted with one of Flathead Ted's new 'original look' steering boxes on the end, I could not find my ignition key! Disaster, no local locksmith had the faintest suggestion of what to do. A search on Fordbarn located 32Phil and...

    1934 Cabriolet sun visor?

I have a question about whether the 1934 Cabriolet had a sun visor or not, and if did was the material the same as for the sedan? I seem to have too many holes in the garnish molding that goes along the top of the header.

Did Ford manufacture 1934 'open' cars itself?

I ask this question as I was reading the 1935-1936 Ford Restoration manual and it states that in these years other body manufacturers ie: Briggs etc made them for Ford. Also I've often wondered what the 'LB' stands for on the small model # plate on the firewall.

    re Adjusting 34 Cabriolet Doors

I downloaded from this forum a page from a Ford Service Bulletin that detailed adjusting 1934 Cabriolet Doors, thinking I'd go to my own copies of the Bulletins to read it in detail. But I can't find it and the copy I downloaded is too pixilated to read either the date of the Bulletin or the...
