    Rims modification

I've had my 54 Meteor in a quonset hut since I picked it up last June while I get the engine all tidied up on a stand. Evidently its pretty dark in there and there are things I'm still noticing about the car. This saturday after putting on some new water pumps and running the 8BA with coolant...

Advice on setting clutch pressure plate.

I am hoping to get some advice on adjusting the 3 bolts on the clutch pressure plate which control the fingers. I understand that all the fingers need to be set the same height in order to make contact with the throw-out bearing. I just got a new unit and right now all the bolts are all the way...

    Rookie Mistake

Well... I broke the cast iron bellhousing for my 8BA. It's in 3 pieces. I was running the engine on a stand and the throwout bearing bounced off the clutch fork and got caught up in the clutch fingers (now bent too). In hindsight, I should never have had the engine running with that bearing on...

    A tale of two bellhousings

Good afternoon, When I bought my project car it came with the original cast iron bellhousing. The seller threw in a stamped bellhousing and opined "These are like gold to those flathead guys." Now that I have my clutch ready to install (thanks to tubman), I am getting around to deciding...

    Clutch size recommendation

Hey guys, I am assembling an 8BA to put into a 1954 Meteor Niagara (pretty much the same as a 1954 Ford Customline but with the Mercury flathead originally). The car didnt come with an engine and it was easier to get my hands on an 8BA so that's what I'm putting in there. The original 3 speed...

Hey folks, I have a 54 Meteor Niagara 4dr that needs a new headliner. I came across someone selling a new 1955/1956 Ford 2dr/4dr headliner for a great price. Will this fit my car? any ideas?

    Fuel Pump rebuild woes

Good afternoon Barn, I started rebuilding my fuel pump with the 11a-9349 kit from speedway. When I attach the diaphragm the bolt holes don’t line up. The hook on the arm goes through an eye in the diaphragm assembly. It can go one of two directions. My belief is the tab on the diaphragm should...

Newbie question studs or bolts on exhaust manifold

I am assembling an 8BA and I recently acquired some used exhaust manifolds and a crossover pipe. I am shopping for the correct fasteners to attach these to the block. I’m finding a lot of bolts but not a lot of options for studs. The header bolts I keep finding are marketed for the 8BA but...

New to the forum, 8RT into passenger car

Good morning from Canada, I am completely new to cars but decided to take on a project as a way to work with my dad and hopefully end up with a cool cruiser for those long summer nights the latitude affords us north of the 49th parallel. I'm not looking for performance, just a chill ride So I...
