    Rod knock?

Yesterday we pulled the pan on a friend's 31 Victoria to investigate a nasty engine knock that occurs after warm up, and when accelerating. Engine was rebuilt and rebabbited 5,000 miles ago. We checked the rod clearances with plastigage. All were within .001" to .0015." However, we could move...

    RHD engine block?

After reading about all the trials and tribulations from owners of RHD Model A's over the years in this forum, I came up with a second guessing observation that Ford could have, should have, or maybe would have done when supplying cars for RHD countries, like UK, Australia, etc, etc. I really...

    Model A Paint Codes

https://www.mafca.com/tqa_paint_codes.html Like it says, Roger Kaufman published this years ago and I copied it for future reference. You can too. The trick is to remember where you put when you need it later. I have a Model A Paint and Finish Guide on my book shelf with a copy of these...

    160-A Standard Fordor?

I am looking for verification. I hauled this slant window Fordor home last Wed. and looking though DeAngelis "The Ford Model A", the car appears to be a 1931 Standard Fordor. 160-A. No cowl lights. There is no original interior upholstery left, so can't go by that. This car sat for many...

    misdiagnosis based on assumptions

Today I finally got around to finding out why the rear wheels on our 28 Tudor are no longer taking orders from the engine up front. This very sad state of affairs began last fall a hundred miles from home going around a corner when we heard a distinct "clunk". After that, no forward and no...

    What's wrong in this picture?

I pulled this engine apart today to inspect the internals. After removing the oil pan to clean it out, I noticed something terribly wrong. All four rods bearings were assembled this way. Quiz for the day, what is wrong here? Hint: You are looking at the right side of the engine.
