I’m trying to replace the outside door handles on my 39 ford deluxe. The replacements have longer shafts which I need to cut. The originals had a piece of the shaft slotted to fit the hole. The new ones do not have the slotted part. Should the new ones still work? Thanks

The steering column sleeve on my 1939 Ford is cracked down near the steering box. Is this a major problem? Is there an easy fix short of removing the entire steering column. It grinds a little when you turn the wheel.

I need to remove the temperature probe from the head cover so I can remove the headcover. I can’t get it loose from the head and I don’t want to take the dashboard apart. Can the wire be cut and spliced back together? Any ideas? Thanks

I have a stuck valve that we have tried Mystery Oil, tapping on the valve and today removed the intake. The valve will not come down. Any more ideas. Thanks

Finally hooked up new battery after sitting idle for a few years. All new wires. When I hit the starter button I get “kerplunk” kind of noise. Nothing else. Still the original motor so I assume it’s still a positive ground. That’s what the owners manual says. Any ideas? Thanks

Anyone ever have a problem with a new hood ornament fitting on the original hood. I bought one from Bob Drake and it does not contour properly to the hood.

Do I need the small bracket that comes on one version of the spring support. The new ones I bought do not have the small bracket that attaches to the firewall. I read where some 39 Ford Deluxes used that bracket and some didn't. Thanks

I am restoring my grandfather’s 39 Ford. As far as I know it has the original rims. Will radial tires work or should I stick with bias ply.? I read somewhere that radials can cause stress on these rims. Thanks
