    coker tires out of round

Took my '49 Tudor to the local tire shop to have the fronts (6.00R16) balanced because of a vibration. The car came with an extensive service record that shows them install in 2006 and have had about 3,500 miles on them. Balance was good but they were slightly out of round. I know bias ply are...

    Transmission woes

The OD trans in my '49 has started to stick in gear on occasion. Placing the shift lever in neutral with the engine off and rocking the car breaks it loose. I did replace the worn linkage bushings but the problem still exists. Maybe a bent shifting fork?

    White wall care

The Cocker Classic 6.00R16 wide whites have been on my '49 since '06 and show no signs of deterioration except for the whitewalls are getting a little chalky. Am ready to install the Mallory dual point (CZ275AX) and a trial fit looks good with the gear engaging and the hold down lug bottoming on the head. The Mallory shaft extends past...

Thanks for the advice, still need more

Thanks to everyone that replied to my previous posts. It made the intake manifold/carb and head install much easier. I'm ready to move on with more mods and am looking for more advice. 1. The Mallory dual point I have, ZC275AX, has a provision for vacuum advance. Should I use this feature or...

    Installing Offy heads

There is so much info on installing aluminum heads that I am a little overloaded. So far I've gathered up the heads, permatex aviation sealer and Fel Pro non copper gaskets. Most recommend using a spay sealer on both sides of the head gaskets. I've always installed head gaskets dry. What...

    Mallory 4004 distributor cap

The lower cap for my Mallory zc275 distributor has one of the threads stripped out on one of the holes. Has anyone repaired on of these? It does have 4 1/2 good threads left at the bottom and I could use a longer screw but don't know if that would be sufficient to hold it down. I hate to go with...

    new member needs advice

Recently I purchased a '49 sedan to replace the '49 coupe my father traded off for some livestock and a bicycle (a girls bike to boot) 58 years ago. His thinking was that a 13 year old had no business with a hotrod. The car is an older restoration that is now a nice driver. I have a few engine...
