Looking for early recessed Zenith, (No 1), double venturi carb bottom, domed dowl pin boss on engine side, no dowel pin boss on hood side. Bowl rim design small boss. Hanrich@att.net

I just rebuilt a carb that had a brass or bronze filter on it, it was no good at all as someone drilled out the gas inlet and no way to hook up the gas line. Also the drain valve was not the right thread size and no drain hole in it. The bolt that holds the sidebowl to the carb was made wrong...

As Richard L. said if the solder flows deeper into the jet which it usally does, it is very necessary to flow test the jets to see how they flow.

Hello Rusty It can be fixed by brazing it. like others said it has to be put in a jig that holds it in place. I have done several but they were not broken into the throat like yours. May be better to look for an unbroken top. I will look out in the shop to see what I have to help you out.

More than likely the float valve, not a good one made today. Some work most do not.

Biggest problem I have is no good float valves, not a good one on the market today, some work most don't.

I made my own several years ago, just took a 3/8" deep socket and carefully filed it down to 13/32", works just fine and I use a lot to rebuild carburetors.

Sad news about Doc's passing. Talked to Doc many times at Iola and the Milwaukee swap meets, great person to know. Condolences to the famlly, rest in peace Doc.

Same thing happened to me, out with the car and could not shift, made it home in second gear. Did not know this is a frequent problem. Asked on this forumn and did not hear about this happening. Pulled the rear end, tranmission, clutch pressure plate, clutch disc, flywheel. Bought all new parts...
