Rear Roller Track Assemblies / Help?

The rear brake roller track assemblies on our coupe are set up for a threaded grease zerk to lube the cam shaft bushings. The ones on our coupe are a straight zerk. Is there a special end for a grease gun to be used on these. These zerks don't appear to be accessible whether the zerk is...

Installing a Model A Rear End / Need Advice

Is it uncommon to have to use a lever / crow bar to guide the rear spring into the cross member when initially lifting the unit to reattach the spring? When lifting our coupes rear end, as the spring reaches the u-bolts it contacts the edge of the end of the bolt, which is outside the ~ 1/2"...

What in the H...do I use to get the plug out?

Okay, I went to check my coupe's differential fluid, and had no way to remove the plug. What tool is used for this internal approximately 7/16 plug. I know I had this out on my car as a kid. I actually still have the tools and toolbox. I was expecting a 3/8 or 1/2 drive ratchet to work ...

Why in the H does the muffler not line up with the exhaust manifold?

When I had my car as a 15 year old, I had difficulty with the muffler not lining up to the manifold. And I remember very well the clearance problem with the wrench on the back nut and the interference of the the oil return tube. But this time I had a jack to hold it up almost in place. You'd...

Does anyone use carbon conductive grease to protect ground points?

Researching how to restore a distributor, I noticed there were two or more places where it was suggested that one should remove the paint from the touch points of a ground connection. Namely the condenser ground on the side of the distributor casting and the base of the distributor casting...

What the H??? My new bakelite upper distributor body/shell is misaligned??

I lifted this from another of my more lengthy threads. Please comment guys. Car is new to me. Had a coupe back in the 60's as a 15 year old. I'm catching up fast. When I hook up the spark plug brass connections, I notice cylinders 1 and 2 are harder to attach than cylinders 3 and 4.What...

31 coupe is new to me. Before timing the distributor, I loosened the clamp on the steering column at the steering box (above too) and adjusted the column to allow the full range of timing retard and advance within the 1" opening in the side of distributor body. The rod both was and still is...

Intake and Exhaust manifold nut torque

Well, I watched a You tube video that stated some guys tighten to 25 foot pounds while others go all the way to 60. I checked the torque on mine yesterday and found they were around 25. I upped them to 30. Looked in the Les Andrews book, but didn't find a recommendation. In the back of the...

How do you all test for an intake manifold air leak?

What are some of the methods you all use? What do you spray around the manifold, starter fluid(some percent ether), brake cleaner, WD40? I'd like to be as safe as possible.
