heater motor and blower 1949 F3

@excalibur, There is a guy on the FTE Forum (48-56 section) that specializes in restoring heaters. Both Ford and Magic Air. He goes on an annual parts safari to salvage yards full of old vehicles. His user name is firstrider I have no idea what his prices are but, he does a great job restoring...

    Battery Suggestion

I had many Optima batteries go well over 10 years and worried about the quality when they moved production to Mexico. The most recent Optima battery I bought was in 2017, made in Mexico and is still going strong. Good luck with your car!

    Death of a tool??

I have boxes of my father's and grandfather's high quality American made old wrenches that only us "older" guys are interested in. Modern stuff is metric or some special socket head. I use what I need and can't bring myself to scrap the rest. Buyers had ZERO interest for it in past yard sales.

    Rear diff. questions 1950 Flathead V8 F1

I did a search for vintage Dana axle parts and found a few places selling new and used parts for these old Dana axles. I found parts for my 68-72 Dana 60 I put in my F3. Torque King, Ventures Truck Parts, Vintage Jeep Parts and Vintage Power Wagons sound promising. International Harvester and...

    Piston hitting heads!

@tubman He's got a thread on the FTE forum as well for this build. Said he has a 4" Merc crank, ground 10/10, .040 over bore on the block with Egge L991 mercury pistons and an EAB cam.

    Thoughts on this Hobby

I was born this way. I was often told to not turn your hobby into a job or you may end up hating your hobby. So I became a Caterpillar mechanic, which at the time paid way more than the car dealerships. I never got tired of working on big machinery or my car, truck or boat projects. I still look...

9" rear in a jailbar truck

Sounds like you got it figured out Gary so maybe you already know this. Throwing it out there anyway. Some of the gear lubes on the store shelves will have the limited slip additive already added but it will say so on the label. If you filled with oil that does not contain the additive you can...

    air-conditioning compressor with a eldebrock 3 deuce

I built an A/C system for my 52 F3. I like my stock generator mount and don't like the mounts that use the GM alternator with the compressor next to it. Ended up building a compressor mount that fit on the driver side cylinder head. Used the Sanden compressor made for wide belt Flathead Fords.

I gotcha actually. "The devil is in the details" is another saying that applies. Looking forward to your solution. I always enjoy your threads. Scott in AZ.

The width is the same and the cap diameter is the same but the cap bolt centers are different? Are we talking cast caps or straps? I'm having a hard time visualizing this. Dang Gary, you're SO close.

    4bbl carb on flathead?

To add, Charlie rebuilds the stock carbs and fuel pumps as well. If your original carb and distributor need to be freshened up, he can do it. It will be bolt on and go when you get them back. Good luck with your truck and please follow up with whatever you decide.

    4bbl carb on flathead?

My 52 F3 had the Load-A-Matic also. Like mentioned it will not work for you on any carb other than the stock one. A good option is to get a GM unit adapted to fit your engine with the correct advance curve. It will run great. You will still have to tune your carb but you won't be fighting your...

9" rear in a jailbar truck

Gary, I think that was my original 52 F3 block and I just screwed a new hose in it. It was already tapped. Edit; I went back and found pics of that block on my original Timken axle. It had a bolt through the hole I drilled out for the vent fitting.

9" rear in a jailbar truck

I'm happy with this. Everything is stock 52 F3 up to the block. The rest is 72 F250. Done! https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.ford-trucks.com-vbulletin/800x600/rear_brake_line_adapters_005_2__3f4243322e0753ac30b3e7b9f0b7b6ef5a8c145b.jpg
