What do I need to know about a Model A, to own one?

Like any car you have to operate/think/deal with/enjoy it as it was designed. It will not ride like a Cadillac or handle like a Ferrari because the tech of the time and the design parameters don't allow it to be that way. If you get a sedan it will ride better than a coupe but a coupe will out...

    Copper Spray Gasket Material

It won't stop the burn thru because the gasket is too narrow there. Only the gasket makers can fix that really. The spray just keeps it from moving around I think-well that is what I have heard at least. Mike

What do I need to know about a Model A, to own one?

Matt, welcome and IF and that is a big IF the wood in that car is good then it looks like a good candidate from the pics. Keep in mind the whole car is wood with a metal shell around it. Mechanically, if you can work on a 51 Plymouth then the Model A will be fairly easy for you. Also, since this...

    Happy Model A Halloween

Mulletwagon, I think you need to lite a fire under the people who work on your car. They take a tad long to fix things. Happy Halloween, Mike

Just checked Snyders and geez it might actually be cheaper to buy one already bored. Either that or do it myself and I sure don't have the time to sit there and do that. Thank you all. Mike

Model A specific tasks for evaluating car & seller before buying?

Since you are new to the Model A world, be advised that closed cars have a lot of wood in the bodies. Some more than others-like the fordoors. If are looking at one make sure you look at the roof, it should have a slight bulging from the bows and the padding. There should be a welting around the...

Model A models for tall drivers?

My 2 cents worth are a closed car (30-31 tudor/three window sedan which have seats that adjust backwards). You should be able to modify the seat to move it back even further I believe. A Pheaton/Touring car since you like open cars (granted they have side curtains and not windows) might be good...

    Otwell Health Heater one piece

Not super rare but they can be very useful at keeping you hot in the car. Maybe sell it off to someone who can use it along with the baffle that goes into the firewall. Mike

Are you using Champion W20 spark plugs?

I have a 5.5 head and was using W16-way to cold as I was sooting up like nobody's business. Changed to W18 which I think are the equivalents to original Champions, the sooting went away. The porcelain went from sooted and black to clean and white. I am running a Marvel Carb which I may have to...

    intake boring

Herb, you DO NOT get 20 MPG driving at 75 MPH;). Thanks all, I just want to make sure boring it out will not interfere with the throat being two different sizes. If nothing else it should help with efficiency and maybe just maybe give me one more HP!:)

    intake boring

OK, I am going to install a brand new exh manifold to seal up the leak I have. I am going to send the manifolds in to be planed flat obviously. BUT, should I have the intake bore out so that I can use a Model B someday? I currently use a Marvel carb but who knows I may want to a Model B for...
