Voltage to coil on 39 Ford

I have a 39 Ford with the original 6 volt set up. I have 6 volts going to the resister and 1.8 coming out of the resister and 1.5 at the coil with the ignition on and the motor not running. Shouldn't I have 3.5 at the coil?

Steering not smooth in a lefthand turn

I have a 1939 Ford DeLuxe Tudor. When I turn the steering wheel left it hesitates when I get to the 3/4's of a turn of the steering wheel. It then takes a little extra effort to go past that point. When I turn right it doesn't happen. I jacked up the car to turn the wheels manually and found...

I have running lights that also come on at the same time the headlights come on. It is still 6 volt and I have a 6 volt alternator and an Otima Red top battery...

12 volt bulbs on 6 volt system?

Missing out on acceleration at lower RPM's

I have a problem with my 39 DeLuxe. It seems to be starved for gas on acceleration at lower RPM's. I found a vacuum leak in my wipers and repaired it and it ran much better. I still have the problem at lower RPM's, but it is better than it was. It accelerates fine at higher speeds. How do you...

    No spark - coil voltage?

1939 Ford 6 volt. No spark. I have 6 volts going to the coil resistor and 2 volts going to the coil. What should I have coming out of the resistor? Could that be why it will not start?

    25 mph in high gear?

I have a 1939 Ford Tudor Deluxe. When my speed drops to 25 mph in high gear and I accelerate it "hesitates" or you might say, "misses out" until it reach 30-35 mph. Other than that the runs and idles perfectly. Is this normal or is there something I could do to eliminate this? It does the same...

    Missing out at high RPM

I have a 1939 Ford DeLuxe that runs perfectly at idle and low speed. At about 40 MPH it misses out. I have new spark plugs 3 months ago, a freshly rebuilt carburetor, by Charlie NY, new gas tank and fuel line. It still misses out when I turn on my back-up electric fuel pump. I also put on a new...

    1939 Ford, add tubular shocks?

I have a very nice driver, not a show car. I'm thinking about adding tubular shocks to improve the ride and handling. Is it OK to leave the original shocks in place? Is there a kit available and if so, where do I get it. Or would I be better off to get the originals rebuilt?
