    Wheel nuts

Ford Barn has posted a warning earlier, do not use repro' wheel nuts, I found it out the hard way last week. Left rear wheel fell off, all my repro' nuts gone, put it back on, a big mistake since the holes were worn, it fell off AGAIN as we neared home. I've since bought a good wheel, also a...

    Lack of 6v power

Years ago, I had a big tube radio under the dash, also a heater in the rear floor of my '30 tudor, 50 cp headlamps ... the Model A generator simply did not do, I bought a used '40 V8 generator & regulator, made brackets, welded them on, mounted it same as any A gen'. This worked great, 30 amps...

    Crankshaft end-play

I'm 88, had a Model A's since 1948, driven them well over a hundred grand, I know ever nut, screw & bolt on these cars, also the engines ... been there done it. The 'book' calls for crankshaft endplay ... I've seen different numbers but can tell you that all are wrong, there is NO reason...

3 brush gen' conversion to 2 brush with regulator

No doubt some 'electric guys' have already done this, turn your 3 brush gen' into a two brush unit with a regulator, no more fooling with the third brush when lights on. I have a '36 V8 generator, cut the mounting fork off, welded Model A type brackets on to mount it. These put out a few more...

Bearing fit ... engine oil gravity feed

Just finished my engine overhaul, new modern rings, valve job, new stainless steel valves, adjustable lifters. I fitted the mains and rods at .001 or less, I use 5W-20 oil same as your newer cars. Thicker oil at low temp' can feed very slow or almost not at all down those 3 tubes to the mains...

    Fresh overhaul & modern lube'

Am doing an overhaul of my motor, new rings, valve job, four new SS valves for the exhaust. Rods & mains are all fitted and snug, looking at the main oil feed tubes with gravity feed make me realize that these bearings could starve of oil in cold weather at startup and 'till things warm up...

Zenith float level ... Model A

Seems to be lots of confusion and difference about the Zenith float level and what it should or shouldn't be, some say float level makes no difference since all the outlets and jets are at the botto of the bowl so gas is always there, that part's true. Keep in mind the the gas level in the bowl...
