    Turn signal problems

Signalstat 900, cowl lights, stop lights turn signals. This is the set up. The turn signals work great if the brakes are not applied. The flasher hesitates and comes back to operation slowly when the brakes are applied with the bulbs never lightning fully. Why would this be? The system is 6...

    Worn Valve Guide

My 31 Tudor had a 20 psi lower compression on in cylinder #3 combined with a ticking noise in that area. I started the work by removing the valve cover to check the valves, and as it turns out adjust the valves (didn't know adjustable tappets had been installed). The exhaust valve for #3...

    Engine issue?

Looking for opinions and advice for a possible engine issue. I have had the 1931 Tudor for about three years and I know nothing about the history of the car or the engine. In the last few months a ticking noise has developed in the area of cylinder three or four. To my untrained ears it...

    Rear spring - 31 Tudor

How far from the center point of the rear spring are the u-bolts supposed to be? It appears that on my car they are quite close together and it just doesn't look right. I have no idea if it matters, but it would be nice to know, since I am trying to fix everything else...even if it isn't broken.

    Ahoog horn

Does anybody know if you can buy the horn motor armature (part number A-13816)? The front end of the axle, which holds the serrated washer, has the threads stripped and there isn't enough material to re-thread. I will try some other ways to repair, but I am not optimistic. A new or...

    Spring

This is the day I have been waiting for since November. It is "spring" in Michigan, 40 degrees and ready to start driving. Eleanor, the 31 Tudor, is back down on the ground with the tire pressure checked and the newly painted fenders back in place. Engine and transmission oil checked...

    Scary picture

The attached picture was posted by a car dealer on their website showing off a beautiful 1929 Model A. This is not a good way to put a Model A on lift. Notice that none of the lift points is positioned on the frame! These are supposedly professional......

    Fender help

The front fenders of my 31 Tudor needs some help. The fenders are fiberglass and the paint is not good. I have been trying to figure out what to do and came up with three options (#1 really not what I want to do). #1. Repair as best as I can with spot painting and polishing #2. Try to find...

    Gas tank for the winter

In Michigan it is getting close to the point when your Model A is put away for the winter. This of course starts the question about the gas tank. Empty? Full? Additives? Ethanol free gas? Try to figure it out if you can! Here are some thoughts that may or may not make sense, but this...

    Cannabis oil

I got an email today claiming that cannabis oil "is going to change the world". Now, that sounds interesting, especially for a Model A owner. What could cannabis oil do to the old four banger? Is my lovely Eleanor going to perform tricks she hasn't been able to do in the past? By the way...

    Starter switch

If you are getting a new starter switch from a Model A vendor, before you install it, make sure the power post is insulated from the body with a fiber washer. I just installed a new switch and when the battery was put in place there was fireworks to be had. It turns out that the power post on...

    Squealing niose - RPM dependent

My 31 Tudor engine had a squealing noise that I could not locate. The plan was to attack each point in order and check possible success. 1. Oil distributor shaft 2. Oil engine front mount 3. Spray water on fan belt 4. Remove fan belt to exclude water pump and alternator as the source. 5...
