Looking for a set of 17" wire wheels for my 28 Roadster. I personally think the 16" wheels are a hair too small for me visually and prefer 17". I'm in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

How much play is too much for the waterpump shaft? Mine moves up to 1/4" in and out. I think the packing needs to be replaced and I have no problem doing that, but if the play is excessive I'm wondering about going to a new leakless one. Thoughts?

I'm having an issue with my charging system as it is draining the battery. When I take the belt off the generator and turn the main power on to the car, the generator spins (rather slowly). The cutout is quite new and has a diode. Any thoughts on the issue? Attached is a pic of the setup.
