Just wondering if i should apply rtv to the valve cover gasket when using a cork gasket?

Well I guess i shouldnt say i got it for him.. but hes been sayin how bad he wants a restored one. he had one before ww2 and when he went away his family sold it. hes had the money and the desire but the idea of going out of town to see one was a turn off. I'm always lookin through craigs list...
