    Don't mess with my quail

The thermo quail cap on our '28 coupe has evidently leaked before we got the car because it had silicon sealant between the base and the bird. Occasionally it would spit out a little water. The other day someone messed with it, knocking off part of the sealer, and I believe breaking off a couple...

hoping I have a single disc clutch

I will be removing the starter from our early '28 Coupe tomorrow to get it rebuilt. The engine block has been replaced at some point with a '30 model block. I hope the early multi-plate clutch was swapped for a single disc when the engine block was changed. I will be looking, trying to figure...

time for new starter brushes I suppose

A couple of days ago when I tried to start our '28 Coupe it turned slowly as if the battery was very low. I tried charging the battery today and had it checked to find it was good and fully charged. It is still 6 volt but has been cranking fine, till now. I suppose tomorrow I will remove the...

    parade day

Our three grandsons rode with my wife and I in our '28 Sport Coupe in the local Christmas parade this afternoon. The three year old rode on Grammy's lap while the nine year old and eleven year old rode in the rumble seat. We had a big time. The three year old has his parade wave perfected.

    installing new valves

I have 8 new valves for our '21 Touring. What a pain to install! The engine has adjustable lifters that require three 3/8 wrenches to adjust. I have three wrenches and a feeler gauge but I only have two hands.:(:(:(

    Model A generators

Will all Model A generators, except the early Powerhouse generators interchange if you use the complete generator including the pulley and cutout?

caution- generator problems may be contagious

The generator has not worked on our '21 T Touring in the 3 years that we've had the car. I've been just charging the battery about once a month and putting off getting it fixed, but now the generator on our '28 Sport Coupe has stopped working. I suppose I'll take them both to the local shop...

#1 cylinder not doing it's share

I drove our '21 Touring, with it's fresh engine, having 40 hours max on it, about a mile to the local store and when I cranked it to start home it was running on three cylinders. Shorting out the plugs, one at a time revealed that # 1 was the problem. The spark however, was strong on all four...

A paper towel stopped my car from running

When our '28 coupe failed to start today I removed the distributor cap and found a small piece of paper towel, about the size of my little finger nail. Then I found four smaller pieces, one on each of the contacts inside the distributor body, just enough to insulate them from the rotor when it...

I want 2 original one bulb headlight sockets for my '28 coupe. I will restore and rewire the sockets. Thanks.

    headlight sockets

I've discovered that the sockets in the headlight buckets in our '28 coupe are cheaply made, probably Chinese. I don't believe they will ever work correctly. Contact will be made places where it shouldn't. I wish I had some originals in any condition to look at. I would like to see the...

    my choke/carb adjustment quit working

I should have checked into it sooner but the carb adjustment knob was hard to turn when we got our '28 Coupe recently. The other day something gave way and it quit working, obviously not turning or pulling anything in the carb. Here's what happened. It makes sense that the failure occurred at...

    headlight wiring mess

This is what the headlight wiring looks like on our "new" '28 Coupe. Time to order a new switch and harness. Now only the LH headlight works, and only on high.:(

    clean that carb

After replacing the cracked head and converting back to stock A points and condenser ,(still waiting for someone to tell me why anyone would ever use the late model conversion), I disassembled and cleaned the carb on our '28 coupe. There was no junk to be seen in the bowl but evidently there was...

I bought two NOS Autolite heaters, just the cast parts shown, cheap at a tractor show this past weekend. I gave one to my friend that recently gave me the cylinder head I needed for or '28 Sport Coupe.

'28 Sport Coupe on the road again

After replacing the cracked head and converting back to stock A points and condenser our '28 Sport Coupe is back up and running. It seems to run great. A friend who has a Model A drove it this evening and couldn't stop talking about how much more power, better steering, and better brakes ours...
