    Odd EAC piston compression height

I tore down a Merc EAC engine a while back. 4" crank,EAC heads, correct 4 bolt intake, correct accessories...in short looked to be the genuine article. Now, I usually clean up a piston and the surrounding deck and measure piston protrusion or recession as the case may be, but this one was rusty...

    Recut domes in EAB heads

I have a pair of EAB heads that have been milled at some point, and were too close to the pistons in my 260" Merc. I've been running a nice pair of lightly milled 8CM heads that have .035-.040 piston clearance (block is decked). I wanted to try the EAB's so after researching on the Barn I made a...

What does this window shade fit?

Anyone know what this might fit? Got it with the '41 Merc but sure doesn't fit that car. Approx 45 1/2" by 15 1/2", tan one side and dark blue on the other. Folds and has snaps but fabric has shrunken a bit. Terry

    The opposite of Freeway Driving

:) I like the slower pace of two lane paved roads but very much enjoy traveling the gravel with the '41 Merc. Usually 30-40 mph or so depending on conditions...sometimes at a crawl over rough rutted stuff, sometimes 50+ on a smooth graded piece. Here's this morning's 40 mile tour of local...

Hi all; Can anyone tell me what the differences were between the stock V8 muffler and the 6 cyl muffler in 1940-41? This is for a coupe or sedan. Thanks for any help you can give. Terry

My "new" 260 inch Merc is a BEAST!

I want to thank all you guys who post their engine tips, "secrets", tuning know-how and experiences with different combinations because I used a lot of that information to build a 260" Merc that far exceeded my expectations on it's first drive tonight. It's in my '41 Merc Town Sedan with 3 spd...

8CM or EAB cam for 260" Merc?

I'm putting together a .030" over Merc ( with a stock Merc 4" crank) for my '41 Town Sedan. I'll mill a set of stock iron heads to get proper piston to head clearance of approx .040" and have converted a Chevy distributor to Flathead specs for centrifugal advance and added an adjustable vacuum...
