except cash for a car or trust a check

A few years ago I sold my 40 Ford at Carlisle Pa swap meet. The buyer was from North Dakota. I wouldn't sign the title over until I heard from my Bank that the money was indeed transferred to my account. Took about an hour. Now I will be at Carlisle again this year selling one and maybe buying...

    painting running board aprons.

When the weather breaks I'm thinking about painting the fenders and running board aprons. Other than removing the fenders, running boards, taking up the floor, disconnecting the steering column, to raise the body up to get the aprons out, what if anything do I have to do to paint the black...

    cylinder sleevesMachine Shop question.

Machine Shop question. I was never in the position to how they replace the sleeves in an engine. Are the old sleeves pressed out, new sleeves pressed in? What holds them in place after there in? Just a jam fit? Might sound like a newbe question, but I never seen the process done.

    knocking at start up again

About a week ago I was reading a thread about knocking noise for about 30 seconds at start up. Suggestions were to short #s 2& 3 spark plugs to confirm it's slop in in the middle main Babbitt. Questions....is that a sure fire way to determine that? I did that and no change. That test and after...

    dirty leg

I've been reading the thread about modern gas filters and I seen dirty leg mentioned a few times. I know I'll probably hear comments about asking a dumb question but what is a dirty leg. A type of filter? I've been on the A site for 3 years and the early V8 for five and never heard that term.

    knock at start up

I got a knock at start up on my 30 Phaeton. It goes away after about a minute or so. Tried shorting out cylinders 2 and 3 while knocking, produced no change. I use Rotella 15w40 oil, it's clean and up to level. Engine has about 1000 mi. on it. Any thought would be appreciated.

    ****** gears

Just to get another opinion, if you can tell by the picture if the cluster gear and slider are junk. This is from a spare transmission that I was going to rebuild. Do to the cost of new gears and some doubt of the quality of new gears, I'm having second thoughts.
