hi. im installing a new dist from bubbas. its the gm with pertronix and mech advance. motor is a 50 merc. when installing should the rotor point to #1 exactly or point a little after #1? the stock dist was set up this way when i removed it, this is why im asking, thanks.

im getting ready to put the crank back into a 51 merc engine. ive noticed that it doesnt have the front slinger on it. (the slinger that goes on next to the crankshaft gear) is this supposed to be on there? i have one on another motor but cant figure out how it goes on, or how to get it off...

does anybody know if there is a torque spec on the pressure relief valve nut? i found the spec for the bottom cover but cannot find the other one anywhere. i just snugged it up and then wired it. now im second guessing if that was the correct way to do it. thanks.

im in the process of installing a 51 merc motor into my 49 ford shoebox. the merc has a different pressure plate and flwheel. will the merc stuff fit into the 49 bellhousing? it looks close. thanks. the 49. the 51 51 pressure plate, 49 bellhousing.

hi, i just bought a 51 merc flathead for my shoebox. i noticed that the merc has a cast timing cover and my ford flatty has aluminum. why the differance? can i use the aluminum one on the merc motor? thanks.
