the 30 tudor is an NZ new car,the owner's grandmother bough it from Lysons inLower Hut on the 6th june 1937 for 120 pounds, the his father had it then him,he bought it over to,australia when he moved over.
We had the manditory run today of 175 ks, i was in the passeat navigating, but was relieved of that duty after the second instruction which i missed then we went 4 ks too far,😂.
We had another couple in the car for the day and they had a ball, they have a model A under restoration but not finshed yet
Lovely drive in the country and had morning tea at a small town (Mt Barker), put on by the local senior citizens group, a magnificent feed ,absolutely first class,
One of the old rockets had an altercation with a 4WD on the roundabout and got the front mudgaurd a bit dented ,no injuries.
We then made our way to Demark where we all parked in the local park, the local coppers came over for a look but no speeding tickets were issued 👍
Lunch in the local pub was also great.
We then headed back to the rally headquarters and dropped of the other couple and headed back to our camper for an easy afternoon, i swapped the front wheels around and adjusted the front brakes.
Cheryl did a clean up in the camper ,then we headed back to the headquarters for a nibnle and natter, there is a nightly raffle and tonight we won a goody bag filled witha nice book, first aid kit ,bottle of wine(that will be nice on our trip home) two oil, pourer bottles ,a tube of pensite grease and a realy neat coffee cup, i nearly had a disaster as i knocked my beer over on the table ,some went in the goody bag the rest onto Cheryls leg,we both had a laugh.

Well , yesterday we had a drive out to the war museum ( recollections 0f war)
there were two choices of drives out to it,one just straight down the hiway the other via a couple of bays, both spectacular, the one called shelly bay was accessible via a dirt track and one way dirt road down the hill into the bay,a slow trip down in 1st gear.
the sea and beaches were so very nice and unspoiled, but there was a small camping area where a young couple were camped with a roof top tent arrangement, it would be great spending the night there so close to the sea.
On the drive back to the highway,( lots in low gear) we came across another Model A conked out, stopping to,help we find his modified inlet manifold for a downdraft carb had snapped clean off, we couldn't help there.
The drive out the rest of the way was very windy(59 kph) so a lot of wind noise in the pickup cab.
We arrived at the museum to find the others already there,we had spent too much time exploring down dirt tracks).
the museum was very good and had a picture of the chaple in the middle of Ypres in Belgium, my grandfather fought there in ww1.
the cars were all parked in on of the farmers fields that had the electric fence turned off,( hopefully)😂
Following a good look around the museum we headed back to town, this time with the wind behind us so way lees noise in the cab.
The main activity for the evening was a drive around town , we were in a 31 sedan that was most un model A like as it was soo nice inside.limousine like.
After which we and Alayne and Martin from NZ went for dinner at a really nice place( steak to die for) then home .
Today was the public display of all the cars down in the main street of Albany, I think there are 98 or 94 cars at the rally, im not sure how many were at the display, but it sure filled the crassed area of the park.
Tonight we have the gala dinner and raffle drawing of the main prizes ,mitchel gearbox, jewellery etc ,so lots of tickets have been snapped up.
We are both dressed up pretty flash so we may not be recognised.😂
Farewell breakfast tomorrow, then a relaxing day stocking up for the trip home when we head off on sunday morning.
I greased both cars this arvo and checked oils etc.
the little guy fell out of the tree outside our camper this afternoon, he is a ringtailed possum and is very rare, the crows were after him.
the black birds are black cookatoo,s

Friday night was the gala dinner and presentation, lots of folks dressed in period clothes, meal was first class, and plenty of it.
The trophies were all made locally and from local timber, very nice.
Cheryl got a really nice trophy for the longest distance driven, well deserved.
Bus took us to and from our accommodation so made it easy ,
Back at our camper, and what do you know, its hosing down and 4 C.man it was cold.
Rained all night, no leaks so dry inside..slept in my sleeping bag, woolen socks on, jersy over them, thick blanket over the lot and beanie on.
Morning at 6 am no rain so pack up the camper, have our breaky and head off.
We didnt get far ,as at the servo there was oil hosing out of the oil filter on Cheryls car,I had fitted a new one ,but a different brand and it leaked around the O ring, lucky i had the usual brand on board so changed it out and no leaks.
We only did around 300 ks today to Ravensthorpe, no wind , great scenery, little traffic, so arived at out spot for the night eary, and its only going to be 6c over night👍,
took a few pics along the way.
sample of the wheat grown here
Painted wheat silos
passenger footwell ,with shoes and thongs for hot or cold driving and tub of mixed nuts for snacking on, (too often)
Tomorrow we are off to Norseman about 330 ks,we will spend the next day there as well as when leaving Norseman we have the Nullabor to cross, three days and only servos , so need to stock up at norseman .

A relatively short frive today at 330 ks, great to beout of the really cold weather we thought, until this morning where it was only .6c , the first time since my youth i actually shivered in bed this morning.
We both realised that we had a small heater in the camper but were too cold to,get out of bed and get it,( its out now ready to go)
The drive today took us past some huge mines, dont know for sure what they are mining ,but it filled the skyline.
Both cars going great, funny, we think $2.45 ltr is cheap,??
not many pics today,
one of the grain trucks loading .
rest day for us tomorrow here in Norseman as the next part is the nullabor and there is very little supplies available other than fuel and servo type food,(not for us).
I have a little fault finding to do,tomorrow as my brake lights stopped working,ot will be something simple im sure.
I had a large B double catch me this morning,so i sped up,as there was nowhere to pull over for him to pass, finally i managed to pull into a small spot and let him past , he tooted and flashed his blinkers as i got back to speed , then I see hos brake lights come on and 100 yds further he turns into a farm road on the right, no wonder he was in no hurry to pass me.

yesterday i did a bit of maintenance on the cars just a check over, found my brake lights were not working, so took the switch apart and cleaned it and in the process lost the two 3mm nuts in the dirt , i tried my magnetic screw drive to find them but the stones must be iron as the were sticking to the magnetic screw driver. so a zip ties did the job.
Today we started out across the nullabor from Norseman, a 440 klm day.
I devided it up into four parts each 67 miles on the speedo, so we could stop for smoko after we were at least 1/4 the way, then lunch at half way.
these stops were just at parking areas ,no facilities except rubbish bins.
We caught up with the old Fiats along the way today one at the fuel stop at Baladonia,it was a 1924 fiat with the littlest eng at only 1400cc,it left a pool of black out after it left the pumps.we came apon another one ,a little bit later at 1927, but so far removed from out A fords ,even the owner said the fords were roadable,
At one of the signs at the start of the 90mmile straight one little fiat van type thing pulled out in front of me , but he was doing a couple of ks faster than us so slowly pulled away.
Lots of cross wind today so fuel consumption is off a bit i would think. the last 20 ks were a bit edgy for me as my tank was less than 1/4 and a pile of road trains in the rear.
Still we made it ok
my A didnt idle down as smooth as usual so after setting up the camper ( in the strong wind) did a bit of inv7and find the vacume can on the distributor has a leak,so i blanked the hose off and adjusted the time to compensate and its good now, we also had a flat tyre on the camper so put on the spare.
Windy as so we elected to eat in the roadhouse a very nice burger and chips and a cold beer,
There are heaps of motorcyclists headed west ,they are going to a meet in perth apparently,
They had booked out the roadhouse cabins and rooms,
We only saw one othe model a since leaving albany, that was on a trailer in Norseman.
There are quite a fee american pickups towing caravans now, they are much larger than the usual toyotas and ford rangers

Today, a big drive for us at around 450klms, not normally a problem, but the wind made for tiring driving.
Still enjoyable though.
We are still amongst the old fiats and someof them pass us and others we pass them.
Flies, they are called march flies, they are big and plenty of them at some stops.lucky i had jeans and jersey on, but Cheryl had a jersey and only 3/4 length pants, the flies sure got stuck in to her, cutting short our stops.
SOme nice pocs of the coast line here.
We crossed fromWA into South Australia ,and immediately the roads wereof a lesser quality.
I,noticed it getting warmer in the cabin and looked at the twmp, gauge, but it was only 82c on a long uphill section so,cocluded the engine was not the cause, then opened the window some more and for the first ti/ne in weeks the air outside was warm,👍
At the servo at Mundrabilla i noticed a trail of oil leading under Cheryls car, looked under and the eng was dry and still full.
turns out it was from a previous customer either one of the fiats or the model A from our group that was using 2lts a day.
From this servo we( I that is) missed filling at the next one,so,my tank got realy low getting into,The Nullabor road house,(under 1/4 tank).
We decided to,book,a room instead of the cmper as it ws as windy as and a bog storm was coming in.
good move as Model A friend s were already there, we shared our dinner with them ,steak sausages vegies and fresh rockmellon,
Easy day tomorrow only 300 ks to,Ceduna where we will, spend a couple of days.

A big day today, 460 klms and 3 time zones that caught us out, good though, we that it was 2-30 pm and it was really 11-30 am.
There is some spectacular scenery allong the drive today, picture perfect weather and no wind,so we took quite a few oportunities to stop and take some pics ,even thought it added to our added to our travel time.
the coastline along here is special and looking south the next place is antartica, the sea is as blue as,and tonight it feels like we're there.
There are also things that im sure you would see no where else , the RFDS energency landing strips that are actually the hiway.
cars went well ,fuel costs up a bit at 3-26 ltr. and down the road a bit it was 2-96lt ,we thought that was cheap.
at the border quarantine station i pulled out of the servo to get in line and at the last second see a road train heading for the same line, he gave me a toot, and i went and apologised to,him at the stop, he smiled and said he would have squished me. i agreed
lucky we were both only going 2mph.
We saw two blokes on push bikes,6 or so old bentlys, two were the ones that raced way back, they were humming along, also 3 old Holdens, you know ,we used to make cars here.
Less flies today so lunch and smoko ,s were a bit easier.
So, all in all, a great day, cars going great Cheryls A has used maybe 1/8th on the dipstick, mine a bit more ,
Mileage so far to date,2519 or 4093 klms.
So i will do an oil and filter change tomorrow.
Lawrie
Spectacular photos!
