Front spring shackle stud removal from perch?

Thanks all for the suggestions.

I am not a fan of using a torch under the car. I found using a hacksaw blade an exercise in frustration considering the compromised position and the inability to see or guide the blade properly while sawing. I may try Bored&Stroked's chisel with half round end method.

I have an idea for a tool I am going to try today.

I installed the polyurethane bushings for the rear spring on my 36 Ford 5W Coupe. I recommend that you get some lubricant use for polyurethane bushings, otherwise you will get some unwanted squeaks from the bushings if they are installed dry. Ask me how I know?

You might be able to reinstall the hacksaw blade in the saw. There might be an angle where you can get some decent strokes going. A brand new blade might be a good idea to make it as effective as you can.
I would use the street rod type bushings. The original type are hard to insert successfully. If you can get genuine NOS originals, they might go in but repros are hard to do.

I tried all of the suggestions mentioned, minus the cutting torch only to be met with a galled and torn up perch bore hole. I ended up removing the perches from the axle. Got lucky, someone prior had them out and had applied anti seize to the perch tapers.

I then set them up in a milling machine and bored the perch holes out to .750". That was the only way I could get the shells out.
