1940 ford rear fender bolt sealing

thanks! It would be kindah hard to put it on the fender side wouldn't it! ...the fender itself is kinda in the way! I've had some "experienced" (ie: older) ford guys mention some sort of a putty, but they couldn't remember what it was called...

1940 ford rear fender bolt sealing

Searched through the barn and didn't see anything on what to use to seal the bolt/nut-clip area. "nut-clip...?" It appeared on my parts car that Ford used some sort of "tar" like stuff applied to the fasteners on the inside of the car... is that a correct assumption? Did they put the stuff...

    sad news in CT

My son is my best friend, the best thing I have ever done or will ever do. To lose him would rip my soul to shreds... but I would always remember his love for me and my love for him, a love that can never be replaced and yet will never be lost. From the first moment I held him we were bonded...

(Up here a 100 degree temperature swing through out a year is common! and a 30 degree swing in one day even...

    40 Ford Coup Hood Alignment

ok... that's enough of that!! (for awhile) The passenger side is better, but not great The driver side is better, but not great (the rear arm was still hitting the carriage bolt head and holding the rear of the hood 1/2" high in the rear, reshaped the arm just a little and ground a little...

    40 Ford Coup Hood Alignment

I did bend the rear hinges so they were almost 90 degree bends, and it did have the desired affect of lowering the rear of the hood. But the bend on the passenger side was almost too much and it was actually a little too low, I had to reset the hinge plate from where it was to a little higher...

    40 Ford Coup Hood Alignment

ok... I'm feeling "better" about the drivers side front to back, I think I need to bend the back hinge arm a little, since it's the one that controls the height at the cowl. it has an "s" bend in it.. so it shouldn't be too hard to make the "s" bend tighter, and keep the pivot point in plane...

    40 Ford Coup Hood Alignment

here are the "shoulders" on the rear of the hood for the hinges... I cannot get this hood closer! I've taken it apart, "adjusted the hinge arms and drilled out the hole on the cowl larger and the holes hinge brackets where the two bolts per side fit into the firewall/cowl. (using grade 8 -...
