Installing inside door panel & handle/crank

On a 39 Ford there two pyramid shaped, compression springs that go between the door frame and the inside door panel. These springs are necessary to install the inside handle and the window crank. My question concerns the springs. Is the large end placed against the door frame or against the...

Are the clips along the bottom of the garnish like the clip along the top? I have the top and sides loose, but cannot budge the ones across the bottom. What am I doing wrong? Thank for your response. 1939 Deluxe Coupe.

    door latch and linkage arm

Thanks for the suggestion but I have eliminated the lock cylinder as the culprit. After buying one from John McClure I installed it into the square hold you refer to by removing only a portion of the door panel. I can see the end of the square turning as I turn the lock with the key. Thanks.

    door latch and linkage arm

Problem with lock on 39 Deluxe Coupe. The key will not lock or unlock the door. The key "feels" like it is working properly - it turns and stops at the appropriate positions but the lock does not move. Could the problem be with the linkage arm? Thanks for your input. Bill

Thanks to all for good advice. I was able to order parts Al a carte from Van Pelt and Joe's at considerable savings from the quote from Egge. We are fortunate to have Van Pelt and Joe who specialize in Early Ford parts. They are great people to work with - like the good folks on this forum.

    Rebuild kit 221

Frankly, Brian, I don’t know. It’s an 81A if that’s the answer. My Coupe is titled as a 1939 Deluxe. I find so many things common to a 38, I call it a 1938 1/2. It definitely is an early 39 based serial number. Tell me what specifically to be looking for, please.
