    HELP!! Top Irons identification

I'm also pretty sure those are not Ford top irons. On Model T and model A the bows were pretty much straight and went across to the sockets that were curved . They are definitely NOT for 28 to 30 Model A and definitely NOT for 35/6 Ford .

Tips/tricks for getting seriously stuck pistons out of the block

Vinegar even in mild form is acetic acid, given time it will eat anything aluminum, especially if there are copper gaskets in at the same time.

Tips/tricks for getting seriously stuck pistons out of the block

Take off what will unbolt, then chuck the whole block assembly into a large drum of water,( YES H2O,) leave it to soak for anything from 3 weeks to 3 months and every so often try tapping the pistons lightly. I saw this article in an Australian hot rodder magazine and tried it. I have pulled...

    35 Phaeton in Europe

I have a 35 Phaeton in Zimbabwe that was built in Canada, and a friend has a 35 coupe. I would be very interested to Know and see how many cars from 1932 to 1939 were exported to Southern Rhodesia, Northern Rhodesia, South Africa and any other african countries. Many thanks Regards Viv,

    1936 phaeton top brackets

Both the 35 and 36 should have the top rest brackets. The body is fitted with 2 brackets in each rear corner and the U shaped rests screw into the corner brackets. When the car is driven with the top up, you can unscrew the 2 rests and store them, I guess over the years they get lost or...

    34 rumble seat in a 36?

Agree with David, the floor pan on a 36 roadster is very different in shape. Even the floorpan on a 35/6 phaeton is not the same as a roadster. Snyders antique ford Model A parts, I think, list new spring bases for your 36 roadster.

    1935 V8 battery dimensions

Thanks for the feedback everyone, it looks like the best option is to alter the original holder to make it take a taller battery. With the original size battery becoming obsolete it explains why I have seen so many firewalls butchered to fit a battery holder into the engine compartment. Thanks...

    1935 V8 battery dimensions

Hi, I'm nearly finished my 35 Phaeton but need to make a bottom plate for the battery carrier. When I measure the depth from the car floor to the bottom of the carrier side brackets it is just over 7 inches, which does not seem deep enough. Please can someone tell me the physical dimensions...

    1936 - Lighting Switch

Check to see that you HAVE a 35/6 switch body. Someone may have fitted a switch body from a later vehicle. My 1935 had been changed to I think a 39 switch body and loom, it only went to 2 positions and it had a floor operated dip switch with a light relay fitted in part of the loom. When I...

    35-36 Spare tire cover question

I have the same problem with my phaeton. I have Dunlop 600x16 tires and can get the outer ring onto the wheel but not the disc cover. Thanks for the heads up that the ring part could be too narrow, that makes sense and I would not have thought of that, especially as my car was built from bits...

Door check strap - ‘36 Phaeton

Re: Door check strap - ‘36 Phaeton Yes I bought 4 repos for my 35 phaeton, very soft and fold easily, especially on rear doors. Make sure they slide freely in the door guide plates. Also when the door is fully opened be careful not to lean forwards on the door , they snap easily. It may be...

    1936 Ford Phaeton woods

Not sure if I have any more of my car during restoration. Mine is the last few green ones of this batch. I hope these pictures will help you and others undertaking restoration of these cars, good luck, it takes loads of patience and plenty of discarded wood for the fire or a barbeque:).
