Any idea what these may be ?

Thank you - unfortunately the car is more of a project than i want to take on at this time but it is an interesting idea for the non-purist who wants something different.

Any idea what these may be ?

Just wondering if anyone has any idea what these items at the left side of the dash might be ? The car is a 1929 tudor currently listed on the local Craigslist. Thanks for any insight as to what these are.

    Front axle install

Would it be quicker to just take the spring off the assembly and install it first ?? It doesn't take that long and there is a lot less frustration factor. If the cross member cracks when you pry on it with a screwdriver it would have cracked in use anyway.

    Water leak in head.

Use a straightedge and measure for warpage with feeler gauges or shim stock - rotate the straightedge around the area in question.

    Drive Train Noise

If you are shifting into high gear at 10 mph you are shifting too early for a 4 banger and you are lugging the engine and putting stress on the driveline components. Try waiting til you're up closer to 20 mph before shifting into high gear.

how fast can a model A be restored?

If you haven't done paint work in 25 years you may find that things have changed a bit. Not sure when all the changes came about but the last time I sprayed a car it was in the open with nitrocellulose lacquer. I've only done two restorations - both decades ago and never got to the point where I...

how fast can a model A be restored?

I think it depends on how much sleep you want to get ..... 3 months is 480 man-hours at 40 hours a week. Not sure why frame sag is an issue for a static display - is it severe?? Even without "getting it running" (which is the easiest part unless you do the machine work yourself) I think you are...

big mistake and a waste of time

Is the end of the gear shift lever worn where it engages the forks - that will not only make shifting hard but also create the possibility of engaging two gears at once - when that happens the car stops very quickly (Ask me how I know - different car but the same idea).

    removing oil pan instructions

Pan needs to come off and windage tray removed (snaps out) and all the gunk removed. You also should pull the valve cover on the side of the engine and clean that out. Others should chime in with details like how to clean the oil pump, what to do prior to starting the engine, what mix to run for...

    Looking for more value advice

There are a lot worse looking examples around here with an asking price in the $16 to $18K range. The value can only be determined after you see how it drives - does it feel comfortable at 45 (better yet at 55), does it track reasonably straight, does it have the Ford shimmy, etc? That and a...

    Cooler Idea? or just silly?

The old coolcan from drag racing works, as does just taking a coffee can and putting a couple coils of fuel line inside and pack it with ice. Possibilities are endless ..... cold fuel keeps your carb happy.

    message received loud and clear

"If he lacked 'attention to detail' in such a simple task as writing a forum post, he may have also lacked some 'attention to detail' in his cars upholstery." A bit of background - 40 years ago I was writing voluminous proposals for multimillion dollar projects to major corporations around...
