    engine number location

The engine number on the Canadian C8BA series blocks used in Australia was stamped on the right rear of the intake surface above no. 4 cylinder. An example would be *1Bnnnnn* (* is an asterisk & n is the number allocated) e.g. *1B34567*, this would be for a 1951 Custom V8 sedan or utility. I...

    Australian 54 customline info

If your vehicle was produced in Geelong, it would have been 6 volt and equipped with Lucas electrics. Check your generator, should be a Lucas, model C45PV-4 or C45PV-5 and part no. 22459 or 22477 and marked 6V. The regulator would be a Lucas, model RB106-1 or RB301 and part no. 37171 or 37165...

    starter motor id

The C31A11130 appears to be a Ford part no., I looked up the generic no. 11130 in the Ford Australia 49-54 parts book and there is 7RA11130 which is for a 1949 Truck "Plate-Starter Motor-Rear End". The C31A11130 stamped on the rear of your starter and could be deciphered as"C"- Canada, "3"-...

    Flatthead bell housing

I've only seen the half bellhousings for the 49/52 trucks with the starter on the right hand side and only one bellhousing is listed in the 49/54 Ford Australia chassis/body parts book and that has part no. 8RT6392, although the full bellhousing for the 53/54 trucks has the starter oh the left...

    Inlet manifold query 8RT

If the rubber bung is in front of the oil filler pipe, the hole would've been for the road draught tube originally. It would appear that a previous owner has installed a Positive Crankcase Ventilation system at some time. Cheers, Neil.

    Flatthead bell housing

All Australian manufactured 1949-1954 RHD sedans and utilities had the starter motor on the left hand side of the bell housing as the clutch fork was on the right hand side. The gear box selectors were on the left side of the gear box though and the action was transferred from the right hand...

    engine/block ID

It appears the engine was in a 48-52 truck. The sump with large clean-out and the right hand exhaust manifold would indicate this, however, the EAB heads are from 52-53 passenger vehicle but these could have been fitted at any time during the life of the engine including at overhaul. The...
