Needing Assistance -Fifty 8BA- Running Issue

The wire inside the distributor is not used with the pertronix. The igniter wires replace it. The original problem occurred with pertronix installed. Did you jumper from the battery to the coil, or use another power source? Is this a 12V neg ground or 6V pos ground system? Pulling out the...

I used Meguiers ceramic wax on my Rouge 53 Lincoln and now it glows like it did in 1953.

Non-traditional wiring of Turn Signals on 1939 Ford Covertible

If your 12 volt system is POS ground (unusual situation) you would wire your turn signals POS ground.

red fuel gauge liquid: old vs. newer

Do a search on the V-8 Club Forum for a source for the fluid. I gave a current source earlier this year or late last year.

'35 Ford Coupe tail light lamp

1157 bulb is not correct for a socket with even slots. the 1158 is the 6 volt tail/stop light bulb for 6V even slot socket. Try a local auto parts sore or Amazon

    40 Mercury Broken Grille tooth

It is worth a try, but it did not work on my grill. It held until winter, I tried it again in the spring, but it did not last very long.

1940 mercury floor mats or carpet

I used a 41 Ford floor mat in my 40 Merc. The holes for the dimmer switch and gas pedal had to be enlarged and the slots for the seat tracks are not in the correct place. It is better than nothing. Back in the 1980's there was a vendor that supplied mats that were not trimmed or had holes...

1950 f1 dash gauge and dash light current draws

The 55 bulbs draw .41 amp each. They should not be on the same circuit as the gauges, The 363 bulb is probably the closest replacement. Stock KS gauges draw the same amount of current for all measurements.

    46 ford misfire

It sounds like you have a restricted fuel line or a vacuum leak on the input to the fuel pump. Try replacing the flex line to the fuel pump. Use a correct flex line, not a rubber hose with clamps. Your electric fuel pump could be restricting fuel flow also.

Is there a problem in my charging circuit (or starter)

At 1500 rpm the alternator should be putting out 7.2 - 7.4 volts. As others have said, check your connections and cables for corrosion. The best way to do this is a voltage drop test, where you connect the black lead of your meter to the NEG post of the battery and the red lead to the starter...

    Lincoln Y-Block 318 Problems

The 53 Lincoln distributor had a mechanical advance that was connected to the throttle on the carburetor. To change to a later carb and distributor, you will probably have to change the linkage and make sure that it works with the hydramatic. IMHO your best bet is to buy the 1953 carburetor...

40 mercury flathead with columbia 2 speed

If your Merc has the original block in it, it may be one with the thin steel sleeves. Check the passenger side of the machined surface where the intake fits for a stamped 99T HS. If you have the HS, you will be better off with the stock bore, removing the sleeves and having the bores cleaned...
