Bore scope inspection of V-12 intake

Ok, I really screwed this one up, I looked again at that piece, ended up removing the intake manifold fitting for the wiper vacuum, looked again and what I thought was a foreign object was nothing more than seeing half of that fitting when it is screwed back into place. I finally have piece of...

Bore scope inspection of V-12 intake

For 40 bucks or so, and after using it a bit, I am totally amazed at all of the uses this can be. Want to see inside the cylinders, pull a plug and take a look. Want to see inside the engine, drain oil and you can see almost everywhere. Can't see above the transmission for a bolt location...

Bore scope inspection of V-12 intake

Looks about the size of a thick half nickel, this engine sat for years in my garage with no carb, no doubt something fell into the intake. 534 miles later, part of it got loose, sucked into the head and punched a hole in the water jacket. This remains inside the intake runner.

Bore scope inspection of V-12 intake

Sorry, no way in the world is that supposed to be there, parts of it already broke off and runined a polished aluminum head, punching a hole into the water jacket of the head. This remains inside the intake and I'll try and get it out tomorrow. Tom

Bore scope inspection of V-12 intake

I ordered a bore scope from Amazon two days ago, arrived today, wireless camera with 6 leds, 34 ft of cord, several attachments, uses your iPhone, iPad of other devices to view. Here are some photos of what I found inside my intake on the right side. No clue what it is, but glad to find it...

    Water in oil

Hi everyone, Ok after the issue on my v-12 with the head with the hole, I naturally now have water in the oil, a lot by the indicator gauge. I was thinking draining the oil, the oil canister , filter, then putting some cheap oil in it, running till hot, draining again, then maybe a second...

    V-12 problem

It is off right now and I will shake the crap out of it and check it as much as I can inside with a bore scope. Great minds think alike. Tom

    V-12 problem

Visually inspected each and every valve, seat, under extremely bright led and a magnifying glass. Took both valves out of the damaged cylinder and replaced one as it had a slight mark in it. Seats on all seem perfect. I'll find out soon. Compression test next once the head is on.

    V-12 problem

Well, after checking everything possible, the only thing that makes sense at this point was there must have been something that was lodged in the intake manifold and finally shook its way loose and went into that cylinder. All valves are good, seats are good. 120#s compression on the other...

    V-12 problem

Hi Folks, I finally finished my 41 Lincoln with a v-12 which I rebuilt many years ago. I had about 6 hours of break in time on a test stand, then I put it in the car and started driving it locally to shake down any problems. 534 miles on it, ran it down an interstate at 60 for 8 miles, got...

    white wall tyres

Here is what I use on my wide whites, over 30 years old and a quick wipe with this keeps them looking new. Go to a big box store, Lowes, Home Depot etc, in the paint section look for a blue can of thinner Jasco V&M NAPHTHA. worked like magic on my tires. Tom

    What am i doing wrong

I was having problems with a V-12 after installing one piece guides and new valves, turned out one of the intake valves was tight. After allowing the engine to warm up fully, it unstuck itself. Then I dripped MMO down the carb and it hasnt stuck since. It sure sounds like you have a valve...

    Starter help

I was having the same exact problem while trying to start my V-12. It would turn the engine over fine with no plugs, plugs in, wouldnt move. The clue was when I melted the clamps on a pair of jumper cables. I took everything off and cleaned all connections. I cleaned the area on the block...

Beginners guide to polishing Alum. heads & intake

The polished V-12 is going into a 41 Continental Cabrolet I have had since 1974. I finally finished it all with the exception of the engine, a year or so ago. It is all original as it came from the factory according to the production slip and I did it all with the exception of the interior and...
