    Interior heat

I never tried shielding the muffler. The location I used was the exhaust pipe because it was easiest to get at. The front half of the pipe was already shielded by original factory shielding. My shield was basically an extension of the factory shield. I didn't use any insulating material such...

    Interior heat

What I have done on several of my flatheads is add in a heat shield over the exhaust pipe. It is simple to make and no need to drill any holes just use existing frame holes. Cost? under ten bucks. Oh yes, it works! Tom

    1935-1936 Ford dash light HELP

Very tangled- I found the best replacement for a dash replacement "lens" is to replace the "lens" with a piece of overhead projector film. This stuff is readily available from any office supply store by the sheet, Cost is about a buck for a sheet that will give you a lifetime supply. This...

    1935-36 Dash Light Switch

I know there are minor differences between '35-'37 switches but they are basically the same size and action. As it stands now working light switches in good condition are impossible to find. And, if you are lucky to find one you better have a deep pocket to get it. I am sure if you decided to...

    Electrical help needed

Need some help! I am pondering putting a circuit breaker in my '36 and do away with the one fuse protection. The circuit breaker is for a '41. It has three posts for hookups. The center post has a "H" on it. The other two posts have labels but not legible. Any help on this? Thanks Tom

Adding power brakes to the 53

Ford produced a power brake set up using a Midland booster. It was used on many product lines up until the 1960s. GM did the same. I installed the Midland booster on my '35 (simple to do) in an afternoon. Result: It takes some getting use to the system. When I now hit the brakes the car...

    36 steering gear adjustment?

Steve- You can't just redrill the '36 box (top hole) and simply add the '37 box. If you go this route you won't be able to get your exhaust manifold back on. The only way to do this is to replace the '36 frame plate with a '37 plate. This is not a 5 minute task. The '36 plate has a hidden...

    35-36 Engine pans

I may be wrong on this but my understanding is the fan is suppose to pull air through the radiator. Thereby cooling the radiator contents by advection. If the pans are not there the fan takes the easy way out and pulls the air up from below which is counterproductive to cooling the radiator...

WHO Is the Oldest Early V8 Forum Member?

Add another for 81. Age does make things more difficult and time consuming but, I can cope with that. My big problem now is the propensity to loose my tools while I am working.

    35 Ford door pull handle

I can't speak for others with arm rest locations but with every stock '35-'36 I have seen has a rectangle hole cut into the door metal for the arm rest clip to hang on. Unless you cut a new location for the hook to grab you are stuck with the angular location.

    35 Ford door pull handle

This should be easy. Remove the window frame and pull back the top of the door panel about an inch. You should see two raised humps in the door metal with holes. shove nails through the door panel to mark each hole. Use 1/8"x 3/4" oval-head sheet metal screws to attach the robe. Sometimes the...
