Thanks Mr rotowrench I have the aluminum retainer strip for the sides and back, one piece, saved from the demo in ‘90. I have a new aluminum strip for the front. What type of sealer is recommended when the job is complete. Also.....IMPORTANT.... Which way does the grain run in the top...

    1930 standard coupe

Thank you Mr CHuDWaH I was able to get onto Marco’s original site which I wasn’t able to do before. Did Marco take his site off line? Thanks for the link. That’s helping a little but I also have the cloth I took off almost 30 years ago and am matching rust stained holes and holes in the wood...

    1930 standard coupe

I’m in luck there. I have the black grained material in the original cardboard tube from Brattons in 1992. Mice started eating it but they left me just enough to do the top. Small area for a standard coupe. So, I’m still looking for a detailed step by step instruction pictorial.

    1930 standard coupe

Hi all. Long time off the site but now with social distancing, I am starting to look at replacing the roof that I started 25 years ago but stopped because the sunroof was more appealing than driving in the rain. I have searched for threads or books showing instruction. I have what I consider a...

    Hood latches

Now I'm really confused. The raised flat surface I would think is to prevent the latch on one side not to flop down on that side. Most people....60%....said the flat side is only there to prevent it from hitting the inside the engine compartment and paint. That leaves the paint on the fender...

    Hood latches

At the Beardsley Cider Mill show this past weekend, a conversation started about the proper orientation of the hood latches. After looking at a number of A's at the show, about 60% had the latches facing what was determined to be correct.....that being the flat side towards the engine...

Do new brakes rods really stretch??

As steel gets longer, even a minuscule amount per inch will eventually add up to something in 50" For example railroad track elongates in the heat and if rail was not fastened to every tie block, the track would never be straight. Or take cable on a crane... It stretches. The eyes have no space...

    Rhinebeck 2014

Anybody count how many A's were at the show today. Nice to see some of the cars that the frequent Barners' have displayed today. I was surprised nobody wanted to park next to the " Pirate " Coupe. The Pirate drove 152 miles round trip with no problems. Sorry I had to leave early before all the...
